Listen, I know those of you saying all lives matter have good intentions. I know you truly think that all lives matter do matter, but the truth is, that can’t be true. Just look at America’s history: persecution and torture of native Americans, enslaving Africans and taking children from their parents, hell, even today we still have issues with immigration, namely separating families, holding people for longer than was ever necessary, and sometimes even sending immigrants back. Imagine if it was war they were trying to escape.
So no, saying all lives matter just isn’t true or correct, because our history continuously says black lives don’t matter.
Saying black lives matter is not saying other lives don’t. Every day white people and people who can pass for white like myself are told their lives matter. We are told through the ability to walk into a store and not be watched like you’re going to steal something. We are told through the ability to hold positions of power without having to struggle with our skin color. We are told through not having to be AFRAID that someone is going to SHOOT YOU for carrying a toy gun. Black people do not have the same privileges.
We say black lives matter for every day a black person has to hold their breath and hope today is not the day a police car pulls them over on the freeway. We say black lives matter because all lives can’t matter until black lives do.
And for those of you saying things like “donut lives matter” please stop. Saying anything like that is twice as offensive as all lives matter.
To any of you who may have a project that says anything like what I’ve talked about today, please take it down. Please try to respect black people and their lives just as you respect white people’s lives.
Here is a very good article that I feel explains the subject well: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/all-lives-matter-black-lives-matter/ please consider reading it.
I’m so very sorry for not being more vocal on this subject, it is truly a horrible thing that I haven’t said anything yet and I apologize a hundred times over. I have a project in the works that will express my opinion further on the black lives matter movement, but for now please know that I stand with all my black friends and all of you who may be black. I stand with all of you against police brutality and systemic racism. You lives matter.
I will be promoting everyone to manager so they can invite their followers. Please do not change anything about this studio. Know that I have a copy of what I have written saved so if you try to change it I will know. Please only add relevant projects and keep the comments kind and supportive. If you have something to say against my point please be respectful and approach the situation as a person outside of the community who is willing to learn. I will not tolerate hate and anyone who expresses any hateful comments WILL be reported. Thank you.
