-- StrikeClan Information --
When kits are born, their parents name them after their looks (Greykit, Bushkit, Smallkit, Foxkit, etc.), and are given the suffix -kit.
Apprentices keep their prefix given as kit, but take the suffix -paw.
Warriors are given the option to keep their prefix, or change it to something that represents their personality, or something that has happened to them recently (Bounce-, Crooked-, etc). This mean their prefix could become something like Starling- for it being their favourite prey, Bird- because they enjoy watching birds, Sunshine- because of their happy personality, etc. The leader meets with the soon-to-be warrior before their ceremony, and asks if they would like to keep or change their prefix. If they want to keep it, then the leader will choose their suffix*. If the warrior chooses to change their prefix, they will tell their leader a couple of preferred prefixes, and their reason for them, but it is ultimately the leader's decision, and they can choose whatever prefix as long as there is a valid reason for it. The parents of the kit will be told what the prefix will be, and will be asked to choose a suffix for the kit.
*sometimes, the old prefix will become the new suffix (etc, Stripepaw may become Sunshinestripe.)
Medicine cats have the option of 1) keeping their prefix and receiving a suffix related to plants, 2) receiving a prefix related to plants (chosen by med cat) and a normal suffix (chosen by parents), or 3) choosing a prefix relating to personality, a recent event that happened to them, etc, (the process for the prefix would be the same as for warriors) and a suffix related to plants (chosen by their parents).
The upon becoming leader, the cat will receive the suffix -star.
Cats who are exiled after losing the fight for leadership (or who are exiled for any other reason) lose their suffix. Technically, once they are exiled, they can do whatever they want with their name, but to the clan they will be known as just their prefix.
There is no deputy, second in command, etc. Rather, when the leader dies, their oldest son* and any warrior elected by vote within the clan will fight. This fight is traditionally a fight to the death, however one of the cats can surrender at any time, and be exiled instead. If the leader does not have a son, or his son is not yet a warrior, two warriors are elected to fight, and the older son of the former leader** is, at any point once he is a warrior, allowed to challenge the leader to a fight. The son ONLY has to take one of the leader's lives, or get the leader to surrender before that point. If the leader loses, his remaining lives are taken (except for his last one) and he is exiled.
*The oldest son is seen as a high position within the clan, and the leader will sometimes consult him, if he is old enough, before make decisions.
**If the older son dies at any point, he can not be replaced by a younger brother, as would happen if their father, the leader, was still alive.
IF the oldest son is exiled, runs away, etc, and his father is still alive as leader, the next oldest son assumes the role of the oldest son.
Mates - more commonly called 'partners' in StrikeClan - are chosen by the leader. Mating with another cat WILL result in exile. Partners with more litters are more respected among the clan. Toms may be partnered with two she-cats, if need be. Medicine cats do not receive partners.
Elders make the clan weak, and therefore StrikeClan drives out any old cats who are unable to preform their duties. If a younger cat becomes disabled and is not able to preform warrior duties, they will be forced to become medicine cats, or driven out if there are too many medicine cats. Cats who are 85 moons are also driven out, unless they prove they are still capable of doing their duties.
Medicine cats are looked down upon by the clan, one of the lowest ranks. They are seen as cats who were either unable to become warriors, or too cowardly to become warriors. Most StrikeClanners scorn medicine cats, and most avoid being treated by them as much as possible, as they are afraid of it showing weakness.
--Prey and Territory:
StrikeClan lives in a pine forest with marshes, and a small stream running through the territory. They eat various birds, mice, lizards, frogs, and rabbits. There are fish in the stream, but few cats hunt them.
