.•♫•♬• current round: auditions open! 46/50 remaining. we need more! •♬•♫•.
.•♫•♬• welcome to the first ever season of sing it out! •♬•♫•.
I'm Pearl ( @puppypearl2016), your host :D I'm a singer/songwriter myself and I love seeing and hearing other people's singing, so I thought that it would be a good idea to host a singing competition!
.•♫•♬• how exactly will this work? •♬•♫•.
So, this will work in a typical competition/talent show format. It will start out with open auditions. Anyone can audition, don't be afraid to! :) Once 50 people have auditioned, the auditions close and the judges finish judging all of them. 25 people will move to the quarter-finals, then 10 to the semi-finals, and there will be 5 people in the finals.
To make it easier to see, I will post a 'Current Round' section at the top.
.•♫•♬• how do I audition? •♬•♫•.
Easy! Just create a project with you singing (the singing has to be recorded after June 28, 2020. No previously recorded stuff, to keep it fair :3) and post it in this studio.
*If you don't post it in the studio, then your audition will not count because I won't be able to easily see it. Just posting the link in the comments and not putting the project in the studio will not work.*
You don't have to fill out a form to audition (you only have to say a codeword in the comments. but keep it hidden!), but you /do/ have to fill out one if you would like to be a judge -- getting right to that!
.•♫•♬• i want to be a judge. how do i do that? •♬•♫•.
I won't be doing first come, first-served -- to become a judge, fill out the form below. I will choose 4 other judges (so there will be 7 including me, @--Goldenfeather--, and @-Songwhisper-) out of all the forms, so there's a chance you won't be a judge.
*You /can/, however, audition AND apply to be a judge, in the case that you don't become a judge. If you do become a judge, your audition will just be removed from the studio.*
Being a judge means that you have to, well, judge, all the entries. The way it works is that each judge will rate the project from 0-10 (decimals are fine too, like 8.7) and give some feedback (but don't be overly critical! At best, say something that you really liked about the project, and then suggest something that the auditioner could improve on. That way, they know for next time :D)
Also, PLEASE don't be biased if there is someone you know auditioning. I will create a SIO Judges studio with all the rules you need to follow (don't worry, they aren't hard) once the judges have been selected.
And, finally, the form to apply to be a judge:
Username | Nickname | Have you been a judge for a singing comp before? | Experience level (1-10). This can be anything from being a singer yourself or having judged 10 singing comps. | Why should I pick you to be a judge? | Codeword
.•♫•♬• rules •♬•♫•.
♬ Anyone can audition!
♬ You can do any song you want! Just please, keep it clean. If the song you want to sing has swearing/inappropriate stuff in it, either don't sing the words or substitute something else that would mean around the same thing.
♬ You don't need background music, but it's highly recommended (see the Tips section below)
♬ No criticizing other people's auditions! You are absolutely allowed to listen and comment on them, but please don't put them down. Also, if you are not a judge please do not rate the projects. The total score is what moves people to the next round, so we don't want any confusion ;)
♬ You're allowed to redo an audition one (1) time if you don't like it. But once you've redone it once, you can't do it again. This does not apply for the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals.
♬ When you audition, comment in this studio this c0dew☉rd to prove that you've read the rules: Your favourite part about singing.
♬ Have fun!
.•♫•♬• tips •♬•♫•.
♬ Have a decent quality mic, or use a sound editing software to improve the quality. NO autotune! If I or any of the judges detect any autotune, you WILL be disqualified.
♬ Use a backing track! Whether it be a device playing in the background while you're recording or better yet, playing on another track while recording the vocals. A backing track increases your chances of getting a better score.
♬ Practice, practice, practice! Once you've decided on the song you want to sing, listen to it over and over again so you have the melody and lyrics down. Trust me, even if you're just listening to it while doing schoolwork it helps you remember.
♬ Don't be discouraged! You are your worst critic. If you think your audition is bad, it probably isn't <3

This is where you can see questions other people have asked (and my answers), so that we don't get the same question more than once :3
