QOTW: What will you try to do better this coming year?
GOTW (Gadol of the week): Rav Nosson Tzvi Finkel was born on March 12, 1943 in Chicago. He was named after the Alter of Slobodka who founded the famous Slobodka Yeshiva in Lithuania. Rav Nosson Tzvi grew up like the other American Jewish children of those times. He moved to Detroit for a period of time then back to Chicago. When Rav Nosson Tzvi was 14 years old he went to Israel with his parents and visited his uncle. His uncle was the Rosh Yeshiva of the Mir Yeshiva. When Rav Nosson Tzvi finished high school he went back to the Mir. Eventually Rav Nosson Tzvi became Rosh Yeshiva of the Mir, and it grew from 150 students to 7,000! One thing you can learn from Rav Nosson Tzvi is that no matter what age or what circumstances (he had Parkinson and many other disorders) he kept on learning. No matter what.
