There has been a lot of drama over the idea that "generic" platformers are bad. A lot of "generic" platformers have been getting hate and some users have been told to simply "stop making generic projects." The truth is, some people like them and some people don't. But what are we gonna do? We as users of this site have the right and freedom to create what we want. If you want to give constructive criticizm on how to make a platformer more interesting, that's ok. But telling people that they can or cannot create is not good. If you dislike platformers that all feel the same, just don't play those games. If you love making/playing these types of games, no one should tell you you what you are/aren't allowed to do.
Also take into consideration that some of these platformers are by mere beginners! Maybe they were just trying to create something like "that cool platformer they saw earlier." It wouldn't be such a warm welcome to scratch if everyone started telling you to stop making projects, would it? Of course, more experienced scratchers should try new things, but again, that's only for them to decide.
Not everyone has the same opinion as you. Again, if you believe such games are overrated, just don't play these types of games, or give the creators ideas on how it could potentially be made less generic.
And if you love these types platformers because of how simple and easy to pick up they are, then keep on playing those games!
