If you've just seen that, every year the world emits millions of tons of plastic waste, most of which is dumped directly into the ocean. We could not believe our eyes when we saw images of dolphins, whales and sea creatures dead and were drifting ashore with their bellies full of nylon bags and plastic waste.
With the desire to promote our project to a higher rank, raising the awareness of environmental protection for everyone, students in class 5/2 and 5/4 followed the guidance of @chanhtam91. A project with the desire to call on everyone to join hands to protect the environment by saying "Say no to nylon bags and plastic waste". Through the Internet, we have learned and enjoyed the buildings built with colorful bricks created only by plastic bottles with the insides made of used nylon bags and plastic packages called Ecobricks, from that idea, our team decided to embark, implement and name our project "Ecobricks".
In this project, we have applied the knowledge we have learned to solve real-life problems. Besides, we also draw for ourselves new extremely useful and interesting lessons through the experience of the project.
Before we start this project, we have the Project Manager, deploying specific activities and assigning tasks to each group. To find out which group we are suitable for, we participated in several small surveys about our hobbies, personalities and some knowledge about Microsoft applications. After that, we were classified to the group that suits our personalities and knowledge most. We were also instructed on how to use some software to support the project implementation process such as applications of Office 365, design support software, image editing, video clips ... through that, we felt easier and more convenient during information exchange and working together.
Our project was divided into 4 groups, each had a different job for every week with the participation of 98 students.
In the first week, all groups will find information on the influence and harm that plastic create for the environment and solutions to decrease single - used plastic. Collaborating with each other and conveying our ideas and news to all of the students in our class is very easy when we use PowerPoint and Sway.
From the second week to the fourth week, each group will start working on their own jobs:
Group 1: The Media & Entertainment Group
Students from this group will convey the harm that plastic create to the whole school when students have some activities in the school yard and guide students and teachers to participate in project activities by making “Eco-bricks” at home and then send it to the receiving entity.
Besides, the team also have the jobs to make products such as logos, banners, posters, bookmarks, calendars, etc...and the team members will spread the operation of the project through media channels such as YouTube, the school's Website and the project’s fan-page.
Group 2: The Supplies Group
This group’s members have the job of collecting “Ecobricks” from pupils and teachers around the school. Then, they will sort the “Bricks” into two groups, the first one is for “bricks” that had reached our qualities, the next one is for the rest of bricks. With the unqualified bricks, the team will continue to reinforce them by adding more plastic to make sure that all bricks will be perfect.
Group 3: The Construction Team
This team is responsible for making up some ideas for constructions we will
build in the process of this project, some products and things at our home like tables, chairs, bookcases, rubbish cans, etc... and calculate the prices to purchase the raw materials needed to carry out the work.
Group 4: The Broadcasting Group
The team will be responsible for recording images, video clips of all activities during the process of making this project, making reports about plastic wastes in local places, then compile into short clips and upload them to our websites, YouTube channels, Fan-page, etc...
Our team is very happy to have done a truly meaningful and useful work, In the near future, our group will continue to maintain this activity to create more works from the bricks, protecting the environment even more. But beside that, through this project, our team wishes to convey a larger message to everyone that we have been and are using too many nylon bags and disposable plastic products every day.
