Whenever I manage to define my life philosophies in a satisfying way (like this), I'll share them with you guys as Messages of Hope. Because I'll be honest, they are nothing if not hope :)
**This is probably the least "satisfying" Message of the four, but no less important. Anger tends to get you a little out of your mind, so this Message is written accordingly: no crazy metaphors.
This is a message for everyone; but especially those who are angry at someone—past or present. Please don't lose hope! <3
I like my good guys good and my bad guys good and my good bad guys bad. Make sense? No? That's okay, it's not supposed to XD But it IS true. I have a hard time believing that people are evil. Here's why.
"Evil" is a tricky word. BECAUSE IT DOESN'T EXIST.
Okay, okay. But seriously, those cartoon villains who are just plain mean, just for the sake of it? No! Those don't exist, so stop trying to incorporate that idea into your life. There's a difference between "evil" and "wrong"; "wrong" just means flawed perspectives.
So, how do you learn to Understand?
First, remember that the person is an actual human, so start seeing them that way. Don't look at them through a haze of mistakes they've made.
Next, rationalize their decisions. Now, this is harder than you think, because you can't just say, "Well I wouldn't do that if I were in that situation!" You're not ALLOWED to give up like that, because you're not allowed to just accept that you two are totally unrelated, because you're both human, and that's something.
No, you have to go deeper. Build a character who WOULD do what the person did, and if you WERE THAT CHARACTER, you'd do it too. What do they fear? What else is going on in their life? What are their motivations? What are their flawed perspectives? Continue asking yourself these questions until it actually MAKES SENSE that they would do what they did.
Your goal is to find out what the person could have been thinking in that moment. Can you do it?
No? That's okay. This is something some people spend their whole lives learning. Just think about it sometimes, and remember that nobody's evil, but nobody's perfect either. So don't act like you know who they are and what they're up to! Certainly try to understand...but don't take the stuff you made up as fact. Just have that as an excuse not to be mad at them xD
No one knows everything...all I'm asking is that you give the benefit of the doubt. <3
