    ✍️ FAQ about Mental Health ✍️

    What is Anxiety?
    Anxiety is the constant feeling of unease, fear, and tenseness. This may bring up symptoms such as rapid heart beat, sweating, etc.

    What is Depression or Depressive Disorder?
    Depression or Depressive Disorder is a disorder in which often you feel numb of feeling or very sad. This is mostly caused by the brain failing to produce enough dopamine but can sometimes be caused by other reasons.

    What is OCD?
    OCD is usually a condition in which one had obsessive thoughts which lead to impulsive actions. Ex: (Needing to count every stair you walk on.) OCD can vary between people.

    What is bipolar disorder?
    Bipolar Disorder is a disorder where one often experiences drastic mood swings. One day they can be very happy and the next very sad or angry. The cause is unknown but is usually attributed with genetics or environment.

    What is Anorexia?
    Anorexia is a disorder in which one feels the need to not eat due to self appearance sometimes purging to stay thin. Very similar to an eating disorder which is more wide.

    What is Schizophrenia?
    Schizophrenia is a disorder that affects someone’s mood, thinking, and behaviors.

    What is ADHD/ADD?
    A chronic condition including attention difficulty, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness.

    What is Autism?
    Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication
    Note: Not all people with ASD experience the same symptoms. Thus, it’s called Autism SPECTRUM Disorder

    What is Maladaptive Daydreaming?
    Maladaptive daydreaming is a psychiatric condition. It was identified by Professor Eliezer Somer of the University of Haifa in Israel. This condition causes intense daydreaming that distracts a person from their real life. Many times, real-life events trigger day dreams.

    What is Misophonia?
    Misophonia may cause a reaction to sounds such as dripping water, chewing, snapping gum, or repetitive noises, such as pencil tapping.
    People with misophonia can become irritated, enraged, or even panicked when they hear their trigger sounds.
    Treatment might involve therapy or lifestyle recommendations, such as using sound protection or creating "noise-free" zones within living spaces.

    What is Generalized Anxiety Disorder? (GAD)
    Severe, ongoing anxiety that interferes with daily activities.
    Generalized anxiety disorder can occur at any age.
    The condition has symptoms similar to panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and other types of anxiety. These symptoms include constant worry, restlessness, and trouble with concentration.

    What is Social Anxiety Disorder?
    (SAD)

    A chronic mental health condition in which social interactions cause irrational anxiety.
    For people with social anxiety disorder, everyday social interactions cause irrational anxiety, fear, self-consciousness, and embarrassment.
    Symptoms may include excess fear of situations in which one may be judged, worry about embarrassment or humiliation, or concern about offending someone.

    What is PTSD?

    A disorder in which a person has difficulty recovering after experiencing or witnessing a terrifying event.
    The condition may last months or years, with triggers that can bring back memories of the trauma accompanied by intense emotional and physical reactions.
