Welcome to my Roleplaying Tips studio! In this people can explain to people what roleplaying is and tips to those who are maybe new to roleplaying or want to know more about Rping.
Roleplay (Rp): A game were 2 or more people pretend to be another character and play out events.
Canon: An item, word, or character that is a part of an already existing topic. (For example- Harry in Harry Potter is canon.)
OC: An OC is an "original character" or a character made up by the roleplayer.
Bio: A biography or a profile about an OC or canon character.
Dom (Dominant), Sub (Submissive) and Switch: Dom is when someone likes to push the roleplay further than their partner. They usually are following some sort of pre-made plot. A sub is someone who follows the dom. A switch is someone who can switch from sub to dom.
Insane!, Yandere! and Possessive: These are versions of usually canon characters. Insane! implies they are literally crazy and will kill people. Yandere! means they are usually in love and will kill for them. Possessives are over protective and controlling of their lover.
Script, Semi-lit and Lit: These are writing styles most roleplayers use. Script is when you put the character name first then explain what they are doing (like a script). Semi-lit is like writing a book. Except they usually do 1-3 sentences and have pretty good grammar and eh word choice. Lit (literate) are people who write like a book with 5-10 sentences and have amazing grammar and word choice.
** or "": These are different symbols roleplayers use to show how people move and talk. "" are used more by semi-lit and lit people and ** by script people. "" are used to show what someone is saying and ** on what a character is doing. Otherwise you can use normal text.
Doubling Up: When a roleplayer plays more than one character.
Ship: A ship is when you take two people and "ship" them or say "they like each other". A ship name is when you take the two people's names and put them together.
God Mode and Being OP: God mode is when you control your partner's character(s). Being OP is when your character is "over powered".
Crossover: When you take 2 or more fandoms and use them together.
Best Traits for a Roleplayer: Honestly the best trait to have when roleplaying is creativity. Also you have to improvise when it comes to changes your RP partner does. Being a good writer also can help you so your partner can understand you. So be understanding and kind!
How to Give a Dying RP CPR: The best way to make a dying, dry RP is to think of a way to proceed the story. Could a character have a lover? Could a character have an unknown enemy that wants revenge? What happens if something stronger than the characters attack them?
