You shuffle through your mail and pull out bills, taxes, etc. The rest is junk mail. Stuff about real estate, resorts, stickers, even Disney is in there. In search for your last bill, you find something interesting. It's from an unknown address, somewhere you've never heard of. Right by it is your bill. You take both of them and lock up, heading back to your house. Once you get inside, you throw your mail on the table and look at the envelope, opening it. It was on some weird sandy paper.
"Dear Jacie, I found something weird while I was exploring Larking Woods like you asked. It's... not normal. It seems to be a large plant but in the center, it's hollow. The opening isn't very big, not enough for a person to fit through, but it looks really deep. I found a somewhat strange campsite near it. The fire was still glowing and there were a bunch of files scattered around the tent. I think someone may have seen me and left but the footprints lead to the flower. No footprints went past it. Please, Jacie, come here! I want you to see this... please!"
No signature. Larking Woods was definitely not around here. And the date was too old. August 3rd, 2001. You get on your phone and search "Larking Woods." Looking through the links, you find a file from 2016, around the same date that note was sent. You click it and scroll down. There was mostly cautions about deaths and disappearances. It listed people who vanished, never to be found again, and people who were found dead. It said the forest got blocked off in 2015 due to the death of two girls, one with black hair and charred skin, unrecognizable, and one blonde who was in fair condition other than a few blood splotches. She was recognized as Sammie, the mayor's daughter. You decide to check it out tomorrow and start packing before taking care of important things like your bills.
You get off your plane and walk into town. It's a regular modern city. People were talking a lot and handing out newspapers. You decided to get one and walk to the forest. There were no houses within a mile of the forest but there was an abandoned Ranger Station. You walk up to it and force the door open. You pull out a survival guide and something passes behind you. You shiver and turn to walk out, going deeper into the forest in hopes to find the flower.
It gets pretty late. You've been walking around Larking Woods for hours. You suddenly stumble upon two logs. You kick one of them and bend down. It was soft... maybe it was rain? You shine a flashlight on them and jump back. It was two bodies. One with black hair and charred skin and one with blonde hair. You remember reading an article about them and start to examine the charred girl. She had a tag on her with the name Samantha. She seemed young, too young. You remember the letter you got and start walking away, shining your flashlight at the ground. After walking some more walking, you feel a gust of wind. Suddenly, your flashlight flickers out and a black figure appears in front of you. You start running around and find a weird campsite. It was a single tent scattered with files. You pick them up and place them in your bag, walking out of the tent. In front of it was a large flower. The center was hollow. It was just the right size for you and pretty deep. You part the leaves and drop in. Not deep at all. The opening closes leaving a hole small enough for a fly and you walk down a tunnel. At the end was a purple wall. You try to rest on it but you fall through, in another world surrounded by animal-like humans, dragon people, elves.
"Am... Am I dead?"
