    Hi, everyone!

Sorry this is long, but it's in your best interest to read it all!

As some of you may know, the United Nations is a collection of representatives from most of the recognized countries around the world. In the United Nations, the representatives get together and come up with solutions to world problems.

Model United Nations is just like that, but in a less-serious way! Many schools have MUN clubs where they travel out to different places and participate on "committees" with other students. It's lots of fun!

MUN is normally a LARPG (live-action roleplaying game), but on here it will just be regular roleplaying.

    Here is how it'll work:

–There will be projects in the Projects section that illustrate the different committees. The actual committees will take place there.

–Comment in the Comments section which committee you would like to be placed on and which role you would like to play.
Ex: I would like to be placed on the World Hunger Committee as the representative of Russia.
If it is already taken, I will notify you.

–After you've received your role, wait patiently for the committee to gain enough members to start. Please stay active until this happens; it's a pain to reorganize these types of things.

–Committees will be labeled with a number in parentheses in the beginning. This indicates how difficult it is. One is easiest.

Here are some terms you may want to use:

    –Motion to...
If you say this in your committee, followed by what you want to happen, the chair will see it and put it into play. In real MUN, the delegates vote, but, in order to make this easier, the chair will just put it into action. If more than one motion is on the floor, the chair will go in order of most disruptive.

    –Moderated caucus
This is basically a formal discussion. If you propose a moderated caucus, you must say what you will be discussing (i.e. what just happened).
Ex: Motion to open a ten-comment moderated caucus to discuss what just happened.
Normally, moderated caucus has a time limit. However, as that would be difficult to orchestrate, we will do it by comment number.

    –Unmoderated caucus
This is basically an informal discussion. You do not need to keep unmoderated caucus comments in the committee project's comments; you may want to keep them secret from other parties. This is your time to discuss freely what you intend to do. If you propose an unmoderated caucus, you must say what you will be discussing (i.e. what just happened).
Because it is difficult to keep track of comments in unmoderated caucus, this will go by time limit. Depending on how active your committee is, it could be from ten minutes to an hour to a day.

    –War
I think this one is pretty self-explanatory. With this, you're declaring war on another country or person, depending on your committee. Be careful with this one; it can get you in trouble.

    –Vote
This is where you can vote on a Resolution. The majority of delegates must vote on a Resolution for it to pass. You can come up with a Resolution in unmoderated caucus. A Resolution is basically a plan of action for the region that answers all of the key questions in the project committee outline. If the person/country/entity you are representing has been killed, you may not vote, but you can still participate in unmoderated or moderated caucus.

    –Chair
The person who is running the committee.

    –Directive
A directive is something you want to happen in your committee, be it an assassination, a bombing, or even just a shift of your troops. If you want this to happen, go to the project labeled "Crisis" and submit your directive there.
Ex: Directive: America moves their troops into Canadian territory.
If this passes, the committee's delegates will be notified. Ridiculous directives or directives that will make a committee less interesting (this is decided by the Crisis chair) will not pass.

    –Decorum
Just be nice. If you're being disrespectful, a chair may comment "decorum" on your comment. This means that you should remember to be compassionate and respectful. Our community is a friendly one!

    Additional rules/recommendations:

–Please do not leave in the middle of the committee. You can be offline for a while, but don't leave for weeks at a time.

–You may be removed from a committee or killed off if a chair has to say "decorum" to you too many times. Just be respectful!

–If you post a comment in the wrong place or go off-topic in a committee, the comment will be removed. This is just to keep confusion to a minimum.

–Feel free to ask any questions in the Comments section.

–Delegates will not be resurrected unless special cases arise. If you think you should be resurrected, comment your thoughts on the Crisis project.

–Doing some research on your person's/country's views is recommended before you begin.

–Feel free to give recommendations for committees!

–Above all, have fun! This is meant to be an educational and interesting experience! I look forward to the committees!
