DO NOT DELETE CURATORS OR PROJECTS AND PLEASE REFRAIN FROM EDITING THIS!
This is a studio I have made to bring some enthusiastic writers and other literalists together in this studio. Consult Prefect42 before adding a project - it may not suite this studio. I may not allow slapstick and highly illustrated - as well as totally bizarre works into this studio.
In this studio feel free to criticise - as long as its constructive. Also talk about styles, genres and literary devices in the comments - and do not refrain from going off on random tangents (I mean surely discussing metaphoric devices can lead to philosophy and religion)
Different styles of writing:
Speculative - This is a work that speculates on a subject, often neutral to what it is speculating. Science fiction often goes under speculative. Also anything that describes new technologies or political or social systems is speculative.
Descriptive - Often without a plot, sometime in the style of an essay, but just more lively and with the usage of characters. And of course descriptive is fictional.
Realistic - A work designed to either reflect life or capture a scene from it, often very descriptively. First person is often used. Realistic usually keeps within the limits of possibility, hence the name.
Humorous - A work designed to be, quite simply, funny. This can be an amusing story, though often it is more like an essay. Humorous often lacks description and relies heavily on witticisms, jokes and in some places satirical devices.
Absurd - Often in a similar theme to Speculative, just with more bizarre themes or events. Sometimes absurdism can be used a satiric device, and often is used to make a work humorous. Absurd has quite a lot of overlaps with other styles of writing - notably humorous and speculative.
