This is FEATURED 2/9/17?
Thank you so much to whoever requested this!! I was never expecting to become featured and this project is so old ^.^

Watch
This is one of my favorite poems.
I wanted to attach the audio but I was too lazy to get it on time and everything so its just silent.
If you think it is too quiet, tell me and I will consider adding music!

It actually seems like a lot of people want music. Any suggestions for it?

Also, many of you are commenting that birds should not be caged and animals should be free. Yes, it is very true that animals should be in the wild but I have nothing against pet birds and I hope this doesn't make anyone feel bad for having a bird. But many people don't understand the true meaning of this poem. It is saying that while some people have many things, others don't. Or maybe since Maya Angelou wrote this poem, the 'caged bird' represents the black people in the earlier days when they were facing racism.
But really I don't know because she never said what the meaning of the poem was or what they represented. Though I know for sure it doesn't have much to do with birds being caged, as Maya Angelou was a civil rights activist, not an animal activist.
So just saying.... DO NOT FEEL BAD IF YOU OWN A PET BIRD!! If you take good care of it, it will be a lot happier than the caged bird described in the poem. And the purpose of this poem is most definitely not to get you to free your pet bird.

Notes and Credits

By Maya Angelou (Not me! I am NOT Maya Angelou!!!!!!!!)

I made it slower since I got a few complaints but if you still missed some, you can look onto this:

A free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wing
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn
and he names the sky his own

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.
