If the notes look like they are bitmap, push Ctrl M. Drag notes to staff, then press the green play button. Drag them back to the top or bottom to delete. Dragging the note slightly above or below the note space will give you a sharp or flat version of the note. The notes are played by the moving blue bar when you click the play button, so spacing out the notes will give you rests. You can pause the playback or stop it and start over. The red X clears out all your notes. Change the speed by moving the tempo slider, and change the instrument for each color notes with the instrument sliders. I say it is pretty good, although when you drag a note to the staff, the note lasts as long as it was supposed to be, but if you space it far away, the blue line will take it's time to go to where the next note is.
I feel amazing
FEATURED!!! THANK YOU ALL!!!!! THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT!
Thanks for all the great suggestions everyone! It was updated it to allow you to play multiple instruments and adjust the speed. I've also changed the spacing to allow better placing of the different speed notes and 4 full measures.
It now also has a larger note range down into the bass clef, and allows sharps and flats. Sharps and flats are not perfect - you can select a sharp or flat of any note - but it was the quickest way to do it. The sharp or flat notation is shown on top of the note instead of to the left since the notes are played by the bar and would play out of sequence as soon as the sharp symbol touched the bar. I also took out the note flip since it was just rotating the note and that doesn't work with the sharp/flat picture (and was already broken for the dotted half notes). I would need to double the costumes, and 12 is already a lot to maintain.
I'm still trying to think of a better way to do the sharps and flats. I would have liked to do them as a different sprite so I wouldn't need so many costumes and so it could stay beside the note instead of inside, but I can't think of a good way to have the note clone and sharp clone stay in communication. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
Coming soon are ledger lines, and maybe a scrolling staff someday for longer songs, so keep checking back!
