There are 36 multiplication problems A * B = ? where
1< A <= B <10
This exercise proposes to ask these 36 questions in a fixed order, starting with the smaller numbers but in a sequence that does not encourage finger counting. This sequence is not randomized.
However, if a question is not answered correctly then the question is asked again 2, 6, and 16 questions later. Correct answers are not credited on these repeats but errors are. Exactly 36 questions are asked so the original sequence may not be completed.
Thanks to Tom Field of Communities in Schools, Madison County, NC.
Tom is using the Great Leaps materials with success for remedial instruction in some of the 4th and 5th grades in the county. This is part of an attempt on my part to augment that effort in one of the county schools. This program is not based on the Great Leaps materials but rather has similar goals in a low maintenance environment.
