This.
Ahem…?
“Warning: This is only intended as a demonstration of SQL Injection. Please do not try this.”
Why is this even here… No matter what, once they've read it, they've read it. They decide what to do. “Please do not try this” isn't really going to stop anyone…

Why? It does nothing bad, its not offensive, harmful etc. - it just teaches some programming concepts.

The world needs more good hackers, also known as security researchers. Hackers are the people who keep you safe. They are the ones who find vulnerabilities in software and hardware, and report them to the maker of the software/hardware.

Without good hackers, the bad hackers would have an easier time doing bad things.

Also, Obama completely misses this point - he wants more punishments in the CFAA. which would make it so good hackers can't do their jobs anymore. The root cause of compromised computer systems is buggy software. We need people to discover these bugs and fix them, rather than punishing people who you may never find.

There is nothing wrong with the wiki describing a common security vulnerability.

It's not actually that big of a deal. Quoting Djdolphin…

I don't think the section on SQL injection should be here. There's next to no chance of it on Scratch (as far as I know), and it's likely to just cause users who are unfamiliar with it to worry.
Djdolphin (talk | contribs) 05:01, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

Also, Wikipedia has an entire article about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SQL_injection . The small bit in the Scratch Wiki really doesn't make much of an impact then. Also - it's good to be educated about it. Nothing will stop malicious hackers from learning about SQL injection. So if nobody knows how to protect against it, because such hacking material was restricted, there would be no way to stop malicious hackers!

Scratch isn't really vulnerable to this type of exploit, I'm pretty sure. If anything, the SQL injection section should be removed because of the worry it can cause other users (like you?). But since it's not actually a security risk here, I'd say that it's completely up to the Wiki editors whether to keep it or not.

I would support removing it, not because it teaches people to hack - it doesn't - but because I can't see how it is really relevant to hacking Scratch.

It's just a little insight of how people hack and stuff. People need to learn this so that they can secure the site even better. I was the one who putted up the warning and then jvvg tweaked it.

Agreed, and also it says ‘Scratch is secure so it won’t happen.' Sorry about the necropost.

An hour is not a necropost.

I support.

I posted that too!
