Hi! I’m wisteria, a writer and artist from Australia!! I’m an avid reader, roleplayer, and assignment-doer (hear me out. Vei quickly senses when others are upset and wants to help, and in general feels deeply for others in his quiet way. He possess emotional intelligence in others in troves, using it to judge how he should react… not that he often pulls it off correctly, but he still empathizes deeply with others. Instead of sympathy, he offers the deeper understandings of empathy, while less patronizing than the former, he finds it harder to communicate to others.

It is not obvious, but it is there, and it is him, his gentleness soft like the fur of a kit.

vei forms deep bonds and stays devoted to those he trusts. It is not incredibly hard to get his loyalty, but he can be choosy. His shy and quiet nature often leads to his loyalty coming in sparsely, because he does not fully trust the cat. Respect is easy- you can respect a brutal warrior whose battle prowess leaves his trail splattered in permanent red, but trust him? Vei’s trust and loyalty come hand in hand, and both are not an incredibly obvious change. Cats may think he is loyal to them, he trusts them, but he doesn’t really. After all, what truly goes on behind the heavenly visage of his?

A forced spurt of joy is not a feeling of joy, but one of bitter restraint in a jolly mask. He controls his outside image as much as he can, trying to keep it clean and unmarred by his inner mess.

His observant side ties in with his empathy, both often working in tandem to comfort his kin and friends.

He appears to be distant, a faraway wisp of lilac fur that likes the retreat of his own mind over the allure of conversation. Not truly untrue… just a half-truth.

Instead, he has little smiles that appear suddenly and authentically, quiet dips of his head, or just a widen of the eyes or a half-opened mouth for an emotional communication arsenal. Folded ears, also known as Osteochondrodysplasia, is a relatively common condition where the ears fold inward, creating the cute rounded look found in Scottish folds. This genetic mutation affects the bone and cartilage around the body, including the cartilage forming the ear pinna (the visible outer ear in cats) which causes the characteristic crumpling and folding of the ears. ‘The gene in question is known as the Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid family member 4 gene (TRPV4), which causes the folded ears and a whole host of other health problems’ (The VetDesk 2026) This means that Vei suffers from Scottish Fold disease- and due to the change in the TRPV4 gene, it causes malformation and degradation of cartilage throughout the body. As for symptoms… there are a few possible diseases that can stem from Scottish Fold Disease, such as: Congenital Osteochondrodysplasia (SFOCD), Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), Ear Infections, Dental Issues, and Eye issues. These are not the only diseases possible from Scottish Fold Disease, only a few. Vei’s flop does not truly cover her ear canal, and therefore does not impair her hearing. but more severe cases make cats partially deaf because sound cannot vibrate the eardrum. He is also more susceptible to ear infections, but … who knows if that would happen. To treat it, Vei would likely go to the medic for various poultices and such. However, because of this condition, his quality of life may be impacted by chronic pain and limited mobility.

Veiled believes in the religion of the clans… (mainly because of Cradlecherish) but also has a separate classification system for cats. He calls it ‘The Matter of Mind, Heart, and Soul.’ Essentially, he believes these are the 3 main components every cat’s inner being is based off. He strives to be equal in all 3- because deficiency in one or over-proficiency in one is a greater villain.
MIND
The rational part of a cat.
This is what controls the mundanities- like eating, sleeping, and part of conversation. The mind controls all which is simply black-and-white, rational and calm, collected and smooth like a well-oiled machine. It handles the decisions, taking input from the Heart and Soul equally but keeping rationality over everything.
HEART
The emotional part of a cat.
Feelings. Vei knows he is lacking in feelings, or emotional knowledge to put it more aptly. Heart controls those feelings, keeping cats emotions in check and letting them…feel things, like love. Or hate. The Heart is feeling incarnate. It governs love, fear, anger, joy, grief, and every instinct born of emotion. Where the Mind analyses, the Heart experiences. It forms attachments, remembers hurts, holds loyalties, and aches for those it cherishes. The Heart does not concern itself with what is logical, only with what feels true in the moment. It advises through emotion, urging protection of loved ones, caution born of fear, or courage born of devotion. It is what creates the visionaries, the artists who paint tapestries and webs of love and joy in their lives.
The Soul
The essential part of a cat.
The Soul is neither rational nor emotional. It is the deepest self, the quiet voice beneath thought and feeling. It governs identity, purpose, intuition, dreams, beliefs, and that strange sense of knowing that cannot be explained. The Soul asks not “What makes sense?” nor “What do I feel?” but “Who am I?” It is drawn toward meaning, destiny, and truth, guiding a cat toward the path that aligns with their nature, even when Mind and Heart disagree. It is just as essential as the others, but it tends to reach deeper, into unearthly caverns where darkness roams.
