So what is the project supposed to do versus what it is actually doing?

What is meant to be happening? Is it meant to save Scratchbux across sessions?

Help with complicated data code

I made a small remix to help: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1390747811/
There are comments in the remix. I think you were close to getting your experiment to work and I hope this helps you take the next step with your project.

Help with complicated data code

Ok, so the copmplicated code's function is to isolate the user from the amount of scratchbux they have (because they are together in the list), then it would search the seperated list for your user name, then it will take the position of your name and get the amount of money you have.

It also stops the code if you are not signed in (see below)
if <not <(username) = []>> then
The rest of the code

else
I am going to add this later but it basicly stops the code until you sign in.
end
And there is another part that sees if you are in the list, and if you are not adds you to the list.

The part that doesn't work is the second “text” block, which gets the amount of money you have, and then it sets that answer to “output”, which is used in the main code instead of custom reporters. It glitched, showing parts of my username, and I don't understand why.

Never mind thanks (I did still use the # of the list instead of the contest, but I did make a number of mistakes related to that that you fixed, Thanks! ( I'm going to unshared it because that was sort of the first part but it is the hardest part.

I have an idea because I don’t know how to « separate ». you make a list for the usernames, a list for the « scratchbuxes », and then, instead of « separating », you join one of the items of the username list, “: ”, and one of the item of the scratchbuxes list
