How should one properly credit Google images?

I notice that often when people use photos from google for sprites in their projects, they just credit Google images. I want to make a project that will have a lot of insect pictures in it, but I was wondering whether it would be proper to give credit to all the websites, or if I could just say that the pictures were from Google.

iirc it's usually very much preferred to give credit to the specific websites if possible!

You should credit the original sources of the images. Google didn't make them.

To elaborate on the two previous answers, people who credit Google for anything (including images) are wrong because Google is only a search engine to find things, not the source where the actual content lives or who the content was created by. It is not only preferred to cite the actual websites the images are from, but required.

In fact, if possible, you should try to find the original artist or photographer and credit them as well. Websites for stock photos, like Unsplash, usually provide this information in a text box somewhere for you to copy and paste.

You should give credit to each and every website where the images come from. Crediting Google Images would be like crediting AT&T or whatever your ISP is for them content to you. They didn't create the images, they're just showing them to you.

What if the stock images they provide are public domain or some similar no-copyright status?

If on a public domain, I’m pretty sure it’s not required, as long there isn’t any licensing by the owner. I would still recommend just putting the name of the public provider (i.e: Adobe Stock). Don’t quote me on it though!
