I've been on Scratch since around 1.4 on my first Scratch account. I am on Scratch's Transifex Translation Team, and I haven't been the most active on Scratch or I may have been living under a rock for so long, but what the heck is happening to Scratch in the next few months?? Are these the end times as we know it? How come this didn't come as an announcement to Scratch's Translators?? Help!!

So basically…

Scratch is finally migrating off the scratch.mit.edu domain and moving to another domain, scratch.org. Scratch has been a separate entity from MIT for almost 7 years now, which is why this change is happening.

The site will undergo changes to finally update most of the scratchr2 codebase laying around from the Scratch 2.0 era, meaning that all pages will finally have the look and feel that the new 3.0 pages do.
As much as I've grown to like the 2.0 portions of the website (I practically grew up looking at it), I have to admit it's aged a little.

Scratch 4.0 isn't going to be released at the same time as NGP, but rather NGP will be released in preparation for Scratch 4.0's arrival.

I HOPE that NGP will also fix a lot of bugs that the Scratch website currently has. You may notice that the Loving/Remixing tab and the Curator tab aren't present on the homepage anymore, and they haven't been for some time.
Apparently these were both removed due to homepage issues with the current codebase- I hope that the release of NGP will allow them to come back.

Wow, I'm certainly going to miss the 2.0-styled pages… is there anything recent that the ST could have said in the last little while concerning this?

They announced it back in April, but haven't done anything since. It apparently has a release date of later this year.

Scratch will move to a new house! It will look better than the other old house!

I personally like the 2.0 pages better, even as someone who joined in the 3.0 days. Sad to see them go.
