welcome to my graveyard. how did you get past the management? they’re very strict, usually, so i don’t know how someone like you could’ve slipped past. well…. you’re welcome in my book. you’d better tread carefully, though, because i don’t really know what they’d do if they knew that you were here….

you look around. where are you? you didn’t ask to come here. but you are here, so might as well take a look around… it seems to be a dark little island, floating above a giant starry void. oh, is that what all of those stars were? they hit you right in the face as you made your journey. it hurt.

you really are in a graveyard. they… (you don’t know their name yet, but it seems they were trying to reach you for a while) were right. each gravestone seems to have something engraved on it… though it looks like more than just names and dates. maybe you should read them, perhaps it will give you some clues as to your whereabouts, how this happened, who greeted you, and…

well, who- or what- is management?

˖ ࣪⊹

the first gravestone that you read- it is just a normal gravestone. it says…
here lies clara… they were the owner of this graveyard predating ghostkit. in life, they were an avid roleplayer, writer, and artist. they loved the french language, genshin impact, and correcting their friends’ grammar… they were gone far too soon at the age of fifteen.

they chose ghostkit in particular to take ownership of the graveyard next because, well, they said that it could’ve been such a reason as favoring the colors of his pelt (really, clara? rather shallow) but from what we know about them, ghostkit had probably meant a lot more to them. perhaps his lineage interested them, being one that they’d dabbled in before, though sHE hadn’t been the chosen one… perhaps the ideas for who they could shape him into interested them, as well. after all, they were always quite adamant on properly shaping those that they came across - such a little amount of kits would give them such ideas as ghostkit, we’re sure. but, of course, there is no true way to know, correct?
well, what a tragedy. at least we know now that the owner of the graveyard is named ghostkit, presumably?

you continue on through the graveyard, coming upon a cluster of graves that seem to form a circle behind the first. these souls all lie so close together… perhaps they were all further intertwined, or connected by the soul resting in the first grave that you read. the first one says…

curserenewal was skyclan's beloved medicine cat, always there when she was needed… up until the end, of course. the death of her cousin and closest friend crushed her soul, and she withdrew from the world, doomed to a fate of hiding away. she clearly felt no shame for neglecting her duties. we hope that she may rest easy now.

shellcrescent was not the most significant of beings. they lived in windclan as a tunneller, spending every day loving the moon and every single jewel that adorned its vain, vain body. they died young in a tunnel collapse, so we think, but- the body was never found… we may never be sure, but we'd hope to think that nothing more sinister happened to them, and they now live with the moon that they so cherished.

adder lived everywhere and nowhere all at once. he came to the forest on a boat with six other kits just like him, having been stolen away from his home in france. he was happy for a long time as a loner, but he came to realize that the rest of his ‘siblings’ were all sent to clans or homes that loved them… but he was sent to live in the forest all alone. this turned him bitter. he moved to thunderclan under malificentstar's rule, loving the lawlessness of the clan, and stayed in shadowclan, too, as they despised the day just like he. …we don't know what happened to him.

queenlyverity, peach ring, call her what you will, was an escapist. coming from riverclan, but not born there, instead living as a loner while still young, but having moved to honor her late mother… but that was never her place. she ran away, that coward, and lived very briefly in a twoleg library, until she finally decided to confront something… that was the death of her. on the way back to riverclan to say goodbye to her brother, she was killed by a rabid dog.

the next grave only reads, symphonycry. everything else on it has been scratched away.

violet was a wanderer, as much as she could be within her short life. she adored her family and loved protecting them, so it was a surprise when she just vanished from their den one day and never came back. she may still be alive…

larkpaw, oh our dear larkpaw. he was the son of thunderclan's leader, kingfisherstar, and much was expected of him due to his resemblance of kingfisherstar's father. he tried to ignore the expectations placed upon him, but they ended up getting to him in, well, quite a way, and he cracked under the pressure of it all… poor thing.

and that was the last of the graves encircling the first. …huh. you wonder why all of these souls seemed so close to the first, and who was symphonycry? you wouldn't have given her a second thought if you had known-

your thoughts are interrupted by a tiny, awkward cough. you turn, and it's the kit who greeted you.

hi. me again. i couldn't help but notice that you were looking at… these graves-

the kit moves to stand in front of symphonycry's grave, clearly uncomfortable that you had been looking at it.

but i think you can be done here, eh? maybe don't… look at these ones anymore. it's uh, it's not like i'm ashamed or anything, i love all of the souls here but uh these ones just aren't that interesting! hah… oh, how rude of me to not introduce myself- you probably picked this up from reading one of the… particular graves, but i'm ghostkit. it's very nice to meet you, and- wait, where are you going?

you were sick of talking to that defensive little thing. you start to walk away towards a more secluded corner of the graveyard, one that is lined with towering, dark, spiky fences.

ghostkit calls out for you again.

come back! i- i can't go over there, not into that corner, since that place holds bits of my future and management doesn't want me to see that- wait… please come back, i don't want to be alone again…

you pull open the gate, leaving ghostkit behind you, and it creaks at your touch, almost seeming as if it were trying to sway you from entering. it is clear that no one has been in here for a while…

behind the fences, there are a mere few gravestones, and they don't seem to be important. there is something that takes your attention from them, something you hadn't noticed from the outside, and that is… a little shed. it isn't strange for a graveyard to have a shed, what with the amount of upkeep that graveyards require, being outside in the elements and all… but the placement seems odd.

if the iron gate did not want you to come in, the door to the shed detests your presence here and would certainly want you to leave. it is even more hesitant to open, and you have to slam your whole bodyweight against it so hard that you think it's going to fall off of its hinges… but the hinges stay right in place, and the door swings open. how is an old wooden door this strong?

there are not… typical shed things inside of this shed. it seems as if the outside of the building was a mere ploy to distract from the true intent… that explains the door, too, which, as you cast a glance backwards, you notice has a lock that is old and rusted. you are kind of impressed that you managed to break the lock, but, looking back on it now, it doesn't look like it would be too hard for anyone.

instead of garden tools, the shed has a desk, a chair, and shelves and filing cabinets that are full of papers. so many papers. it's more like a typical office than a shed. it's… very gloomy in here, and there are cobwebs and dust coating every surface, like it's been neglected for a long time. there aren't many furnishings; it seems to be more function than form.

you walk closer to the desk… close enough to read what the paper sitting on top of the thickest stack says.

ghostkit's future.

…well, he certainly was right. this was literally just a stack of papers that contained the things that would happen in his future. how odd. why was this here? how did he know about it if he wasn't allowed to come in here? you certainly think that, from what you've heard of them, that management wouldn't inform him of something like this.

you decide that you don't want to be ill-informed on something so interesting like he is. you pluck the top paper from the stack and discard it haphazardly, tossing it behind you, and it flutters to the floor, settling among a pile of more discarded papers that you don't notice… one of which reads, “symphonycry.” a shame you'll never get to read those files. she seemed to intrigue you so. if only you'd paid more attention to the past, instead of what was in front of you.

oblivion is a tool. life is all too easy when you can just pretend that the bad things aren’t real…

( + ) capable, charismatic, daring, dignified, dramatic, innovative, just, knowledgeable, loving, passionate, rational, thorough

( = ) emotional, free-spirited, formal, high-spirited, impressionable, moralistic, omnipresent

( - ) aggressive, blunt, boastful, childish, destructive, devious, imitative, obnoxious, opportunistic, reactionary, self-indulgent

freedom. it is the root of all joy in the world, for what is joy but a mass-manufactured product without it?
ghostkit is someone who highly values personal happiness and he honestly doesn’t care what one needs to do to achieve it. perhaps his overly relaxed and nonchalant attitude is detrimental… he is certainly one to ignore issues when it comes down to it, not because he’s non-confrontational, exactly, but because he can’t actually bring himself to care. if someone’s having fun, why is it his business what they’re doing, and why should he have to try and do anything to stop it? he’s not… bossy. he rules the graveyard, stands tall, and is rather personally responsible, but he doesn’t see it as his job to try to figure out anyone else’s issues. in fact, he’s a strong believer in doing what seems fit when someone wrongs you… overall, he’s just quite free-spirited and would like everyone to see the world in that way.

who else offers ghostkit more freedom than his big sister witheringrose? who else encourages more bad habits and more chaos? he quite enjoys her company, finding her wildness to be a stark change of pace from the rest of the cats in his immediate life.

contracts. the world would fall so quickly into ruin without promises… or, with too many false promises…
ghostkit is honest. he also holds honesty in quite a high regard and it is his opinion that no one should lie. if he were to want to lie, he would be terrible at it, because, either way, whether he would want to or not, he’s bad at making up lies and excuses. he was literally built to be bad at deceit, and this seems to be a sign pointing towards his more moralistic nature, because he is very strict when it comes to following rules and never testing boundaries and never stepping out of line. he is good. he is a good clanmate and a good son. he also believes in promises. he likes to make others promise things and he likes to make promises himself… when he is young, he will see it as a game, to see which promises he can stick to… as he ages, it begins to get out of hand, and he will promise everything all at once and never feels right breaking any promises.

speaking of promises, most of ghostkit’s promises are for sagesolace. sagesolace is his favorite older sibling for sure, where witheringrose is unpredictable chaos, he is stable, and he is… well, it feels apathetic to say, but he is versatile… a dutiful playmate and a shoulder to cry on all in the same. ghostkit will often offer whispered promises to him, promises to always be a good little brother…

eternity. there are quite a few things in the world that are eternal, but, when it comes down to it, which of them truly matter?
ghostkit likes to watch. watch cats, watch the world go by, he’s a watcher by nature, and wherever the universe seems to want him to go, he will always follow. he likes to go with the flow, and he doesn’t think too much about what he does before he does it. and, sure, yes, it can be… creepy at best… when you realize that you feel like you’re being watched because you are being watched and there’s a pair of little eyes peering out at you from the depths of a bush… but he’s just fascinated by everything and everyone all the time. he adores finding out the little habits of the cats he loves, especially, and he likes to learn; but he likes learning things about the world in general less than he likes to learn things on a personal level.

there are two siblings that ghostkit never got to meet properly… savantpaw and symphonycry. perhaps it is cruel to imply that they are eternity, given the fact that they met their ends far too early, but perhaps that is what ends up making them eternal. they are remembered far longer for their respective tragedies. they are eternal in the minds of those that loved them, and even of the minds of those that never met them.

wisdom. when the world lacks wisdom, history is lost, and the past repeats itself in an endless, dragging cycle…
to ghostkit, wisdom is always important. it’s important to learn about not just the present, not just facts, but about the great before… before oneself was born and back in time. thusly, he is ever full of questions, especially when he is young, before he is graced with much knowledge of the world. and, when he starts to learn, he begins to bestow his knowledge upon everyone… usually to the detriment of them and of their sanity, because he really doesn’t know when to stop talking, especially when he finds something to be particularly fascinating. he is a born oversharer of random facts that he finds interesting, like facts about… bugs… and fish… but it’s always important to listen to him because sometimes he actually has some obscure fact about the history of the clans on hand.

and who would be there to provide ghostkit with the wisdom that he acquires if it weren’t for rhapsodyfever? ghostkit treasures his dad, being far too oblivious to his treatment of ghostkit’s older siblings… but, even if he really did know, he would choose to look past it either way. he is quite forgiving and understanding and he would completely understand any motive when driven by grief… despite his oblivion he is quite emotionally intelligent, and understands why grief drives those who experience it to doing what they do, even if it’s not his place to speak on it since he never experienced it.

justice. without justice’s hand, the world falls into shambles, evil running rampant…
ghostkit thinks that fairness and equity is very important. while he is young, he sure may not be the smartest, always using that oblivion as a weapon and all, but one thing that he always understands and has quite the grasp on is justice. he could never even understand how anyone could ever be unfair to anyone, anything, for any reason… he prefers to be more respectful than anything, really, towards everyone, unbiasedly, and he always tries his best to be empathetic towards everyone, no matter what they may have done.

bittersweetkit is rhapsodyfever’s justice for his past mistakes. ghostkit and his littermates are all his redemption, but bittersweetkit is what he can look back upon nowadays instead of the past, and he is a representation of the change that he’s had.

war. it’s easy to see how quickly war will burn the world, but perhaps the fire of passion is a necessary fuel…
ghostkit is sweet, sure, but when the topic of war is at hand… it’s not hard to realize that he isn’t exactly what he seems. he is fair, yes, that’s correct, but that won’t ever stop him from doing what he pleases, true to his free spirit. he is aggressive, beneath everything else. he does not often let his anger bubble up and get the best of him, but when he does, his wrath is evident, though mostly born of care. he’s quite blunt, too, and that comes with the territory of caring so much for honesty… well, whenever he’s mad, the world will burn with his heart.

and speaking of burning? who else is quite so fiery as blazingkit? she is a manifestation of rhapsodyfever’s inner turmoil, the war within his heart, for whether to remain in the past or the present, and she represents the way that he chose them, all of them, now…

love. finally, love rules the world above all else; summarizing all forces into one…
everything that drives the world is born of love, truly. if you were to give ghostkit any example of anything ever to exist, he would immediately be able to articulate to you what kind of love it came from and why that was. he is hyperaware of the different kinds of love… platonic, familial, prideful and genuine and sweet and heartfelt and everything in between. ghostkit loves love, and that is what he fights for. that is what he is just for. that is what he learns about the world for. that is what he watches over everyone for. that is what he makes promises for. that is why he chooses to be free.

havenkit is love, because she is soft in all of the best ways. she is kind and gentle and caring and everything that the embodiment of love should be. she is rhapsodyfever’s love, and she is their siblings’ love, and she is all love in the world.

but, sometimes oblivion is not the most valuable tool. sometimes, you need to face the truth, and, in turn, the truth of who you are…

…that sure was touching, wasn't it?

you think that you've learned enough today.

you place the papers back on the desk, and you leave the shed, and you exit the fenced in area… where ghostkit awaits right where you left him. you can see the hopelessness fall from his face and melt into joy as he sees you.

you feel… enlightened, and more inclined to love him, knowing now who he is.

but all of a sudden, the graveyard disappears beneath your feet, and you two fall into the endless void…

you do not know how long you fall, but you've landed by a riverbank, among the reeds. this is a different world, but if ghostkit is here, then it is a pleasant place to be.
