This topic is for the book series inheritance (also commonly known as eragon).

The inheritance cycle is four books (Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr and Inheritance) that tell the story of Eragon, a common farm boy turned dragon rider, and his dragon and life partner (since her hatching), Saphira as they strive to defeat the empire and it's leader, king Galbatorix.

Other characters include Roran, Nasauda, Glaedr, Oromis, and Brom, to mention a few.

The ancient language is a language in the inheritance cycle. You cannot lie in the ancient language, and it is the language you must speak to use a spell if you are a spellcaster (Keep in mind that this does not mean you can roleplay as a spellcaster, this is just a hypothetical explanation).
