── .✦ SECTION ONE . . . understanding the condition

01. what is glaucoma
⊂ glaucoma is an umbrella term for eye diseases that can damage critical and delicate parts at the back of the eye. it occurs when pressure builds up inside the eyeball. it is dangerous and very irritable. as the condition worsens, it can eventually cause permanent vision loss and blindness. glaucoma is more common in cat breeds such as the Burmese and Siamese. with care and treatment vision loss can be prevented - if only urchinclan had a vet. herbs can help with coping, but it won't do much in preventing or delaying the loss of vision.

02. types of glaucoma
⊂ there many, many different types of glaucoma. but most fall in these specific categories :

- Primary open-angle glaucoma - means that the drainage angle of the eye is open wide. Aqueous humor flows into the drainage angle so it can drain out of the anterior chamber. Primary open-angle glaucoma is the most common type of glaucoma.
- Primary angle-closure glaucoma - A type of fluid called aqueous humor fluid is meant to flow from the posterior chamber, through the pupil and into another chamber named the anterior chamber. unfortunately, for some individuals the lens of their eyes press too far forward eventually causing the drainage angle to narrow or close.
- Secondary glaucoma - Secondary glaucoma is caused by another condition or event that makes eye pressure rise, which leads to glaucoma.
- Congenital glaucoma -

03. what type swimmingkit has
⊂ swimmingkit has primary open-angle glaucoma, shortened to OAG. OAG, as mentioned above is the most common type of glaucoma. it is a very stealthy condition, in which when it is young and just beginning to develop, it shows no significant symptoms. and that is the dangerous part. when it grows, the symptoms start to worsen, and at that point OAG is irreversible. it soon leads to blindness and vision loss.

── .✦ SECTION TWO . . . symptoms

04. list of symptoms
⊂
bloodshot and swollen eyes
cloudy eyes
squinting
dilated pupil that doesn't respond to light
one eye appearing larger than the other
physical swelling of the eyeball
eye pain, if touched near the side of the head the cat can lash out and pull away
unresponsive
depressed
always hiding
decreased activity or lethargy

05. kithood
⊂ during kithood, swimmingkit will typically not have any obvious symptoms. he may exhibit a few, minor ones but will not worry about it much. swimmingkit will resume daily activities in early kit hood, and around 5 moons he will start experiencing some minor symptoms.

06. apprenticeship
⊂ swimmingpaw will find that he squints a lot, and does not want to do the activities he did when he was a kit. he will move less, hunt less and overall be more tired. swimmingpaw may not respond to questions or comments directed to him, rather preferring to hide in a bush and out of sight. due to his self-conscious personalty, swimmingpaw will be constantly seen covering his eyes, or closing them. he may also find that is side (peripheral vision) Is slowly decreasing, also known as tunnel vision.

07. warriorhood / rangerhood
⊂ symptoms in ranger hood will typically be the same as apprenticeship, but his vision will gradually get worse, and so does the pain. he may confine himself to camp, doing absolutely nothing. swimmingear worries what others think about him, and may have long sessions a day of just not talking at all. he will have to rely on loved ones and friends to cope and do the activities he once could do independently. this will hurt him a lot, since he knows he could have done it, with better eyesight. as he advances to warriorhood he will find that he can barely see anything clearly, stumbling blindly. swimming will have to rely heavily on his other senses and the ones around him. at one point in this timeline will he give up and lose all hope, and think negative thoughts. poor swimming will become very irritated and angry, and will lash at anyone who comes near, especially if they try to touch his head.

08. tunnel vision
⊂ tunnel vision can be permanent or temporary depending on what caused it. it is another name for peripheral vision loss, in which the sides of your vision are blurred or look dark, just like staring through a long tube. your center vision is focused, rather than the side. you may few dizzy or unsteady when walking.
