Recently the Scratch Teams has been sharing the projects of Scratchers on blue bird app/X. It's cool to see us seen on other platforms like this, however X is notorious for being very harsh to people in terms of feedback. So I think, Scratchers should be asked for consent before having their project exposed to the elements. Yes, most don't use X. But, a parent or a 13+ Scratcher could see mean replies and that might weigh on them the whole day.

Wait they WHAT? Wow, you'd think a website for children 7 and up would've been more sensitive and careful about stuff like this. Support.

another thing, when they ask for permission, they should probably add all the pros and cons to the message.

It's permitted under ToS section 8.2, Limited License Grant. Emphasis mine:

The last sentence is also important. It indicates you still take responsibility for your content even when the Scratch Team shares it. So if someone sues the Scratch Team for posting your inflammatory or defamatory material, then ("to the maximum extents of your rights to [grant this license], including under applicable law") whatever the Scratch Team turns out to owe, is actually something you turn out to owe.

That's all reasonable, but it is also good reason for the Scratch Team to at least consider asking for consent. Alas, they already do: You give your consent by sharing the project in the first place, having agreed to the Terms of Service.

I agree that they should ask. Yes, they do mention it in the ToS but a very large part of the user base is young children and it just seems a little unethical to put something like this somewhere children likely won't read or understand.

Support since imagine a 5 yr old found out their project was shared on a social media site and has been getting harsh messages from adults. Altho some people would be happy with the added fame from ST. Consent is still important.

100% support like that’s literally X. It should be up to the scratchers if they want their projects elsewhere or not, especially on a site like X where half of it is just hell in a bottle locked up in an argument house, and there’s also other sites that scratchers may not be allowed on. Also some may be wary of having their stuff more exposed.

Support. That’s crazy that they don’t already ask- that should be one of the first things they do.

Legal issue?……are you serious…. once you post on the site you pretty much agree that Scratch can do whatever they want with your projects, you already gave consent looooooooooooool

I agree with this sentence in general, but has this been the case for posts by the Scratch Team specifically? That is, has this already been happening for Scratchers who made projects that the Scratch Team shared?

I meant a little kid on scratch whose scratch project got re-posted by ST. I also don't think 5 yr olds should use any social medias like that but I do know some 8 yr olds who use Scratch.
