Chapter I

Onyx, a midnight black wolf, sped through the woods at full speed, dodging trees and leaping over bushes. Soon, he skidded to a stop and dove into a hollowed out tree. “They're coming!” He said, puffing for breathe.
“Oh no!” A pure whit wolf tryed to get to her feet, but fell back into her nest. “Im to week to out run them…” She said, her voice quavering. “Much less stand up… The pups are coming any second now…” Onyx looked at his mate and sighed.
“I will destract them. I don't want to leave you alone but its the only way for you and the pups to stay alive.” He nuzzled his mate, for what might be the last time and said, “Once you get strong enough, go to the Crooked Creek. There is a pack of wolves that live there. My brother is the alfa wolf. Give this to him and he will give you shelter.” He handed her a small emerald neckless. “I will join you as soon as I can.” The white wolf wimpered. “Its ok my dear. I love you.” He quickly licked her forhead and stepped out of the tree.
