Why will scratch.mit.edu move to scratch.org?
I know that Scratch wasn't a part of MIT since 2020, but I am still curious, why do we need to move domains?

Source for Scratch is moving domains?
If they are, it's probably because they don't want to keep the domain of a site they are not associated with forever.

My response still applies, though.

Why will scratch.mit.edu move to scratch.org?
It’s likely because Scratch is no longer associated with MIT.
Note that the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (“MIT”) is not a party to these Terms and has no affiliation with the Scratch Team other than as a service provider for web hosting purposes.

Why will scratch.mit.edu move to scratch.org?
quoting codubee* here
we will be switching over to using scratch.org by default. It's not clear at this time how long MIT will allow us to have scratch.mit.edu setup to redirect to scratch.org, and if we could have my way, we'd have it in perpetuity, however, that's a pretty big ask to have MIT legally allow a third-party who is not MIT, control scratch.mit.edu
We are moving to scratch.org and scratch.mit.edu will be redirecting to scratch.org. We can't keep scratch.mit.edu forever.
That's not how it works really. You have to be an accredited university of college to be able to get a .edu TLD And, even with the current .edu, we still have schools regularly contact us about what they need to allow access to for the Scratch web site to work for them.
