Ban repeated bumping from the same person

It’s very annoying when a single person repeatedly bumps (link removed by moderator - please don't name names) their troll suggestions so that it remains at the top of the suggestions page. I would suggest that a single person cannot bump twice or more in a row in the same topic to prevent this annoyance and allow turnover of more relevant topics to the top of forums.

To clarify, I am referring to saying “bump” or something meaningless to bring the post up twice, not doubleposting.

I am only refering to banning double bumping in Suggestions, New Scratchers, Things I am making (Maybe a softer one for this), Things I am reading and Show and Tell.

Also, funnily enough, MORE people have been double bumping after this post was made.

no support.
1. people can get around this with alts
2. Sometimes a user needs to post more than twice for replies
3. this punishes people who need help in bugs and glitches or questions about scratch

Here's a more readable version of this post: No Support for your suggestion could've been urgent or obscenely ignored.

Good suggestions tend to get less posts, meaning they require more bumping. Not all suggestions that require multiple bumps in a row are troll suggestions.

To clarify, I was referring to saying “bump” twice, not double posting.

So 2 and 3 are irrelevant. I don’t think people would deliberately make an alt to bump their post, too much effort for the gain.

There is rarely a good reason to bump, and bumping for the sake of “good suggestion” reduces turnover for more good suggestions to appear at the top, instead of the top being covered with the same popular suggestions. This is a forum, not a “stay at the top” contest.

I’m not mad. I understand why it may seem so, but it’s more of an annoyance against spam and people continuously bumping just to gather all the views. Let the latest suggestions rise to the top, not pages saying “bump”.

What are you implying when you say that you are trying to beat me? Just curious.

I understand. I am not targeting you or anyone, I just wanted to tell people to stop double bumping. This is not directed at any particular person, and should not be taken as such.

Ahh, I understand. It isn’t directed to any particular person, so I cannot target you and you have no reason to target me because you don’t double bump.

Just to clarify, I am referring to saying “bump” or something meaningless to bring the post up twice, not doubleposting. This suggestion is not targeted at any particular person or group of people. Doubleposting to answer or reply will not be banned

Semi-support. I think some people DO need more than two replies for a post, but too many can clutter up the forums, so I would change my opinion if it applies to only Suggestions or the limit is four, not two. If they get around this with an alt, you can report them.
There is more detail from him:

My suggestion doesn’t really apply to posting twice for replies (it’s only for saying meaningless stuff twice in a row purely to bring the post up), so 2 and 3 are irrelevant. Maybe a limit of 4 will help things, but not for meaningless bumps.

This is unfortunately true.

Trollers don't even need to bump their suggestions, since the topics already get enough attention (in fact, I have never seen the situation the OP described of trollers making consecutive bumps, because of how outrageous these suggestions tend to be).

There are also other non-trolling but low-quality topics that get a lot of attention, like those that give the problem without proposing a solution (e.g. ranting), because it is easy for people to complain.

Even among high-quality suggestions, the ones that receive the most attention are those that get people to debate and complain (like topics about AI, the membership, the studio update, solution to something in TOLoRS, etc.), or topics which people are really passionate about.

To summarise all that: the best topics don't get the attention they deserve. Therefore, the OP should be allowed to make consecutive bumps (if following the first-page rule + 24-hour rule)

But what if I bump my topic wait a week and don't get another post on it, and bump it a week later?
