Stop Celebrating Pi Day officially

Stop Celebrating Pi Day officially
In my opinion Scratch should stop making official celebrations of pi day.
This is mainly because it doesn't deliver much educational or creative value on Scratch.
Pi day on Scratch and explaining it to Scratchers will either be with the necessary mathematical concepts, which are too complex for most young Scratch users (so the intended and educational audience) and therefore can't really be done.
However, the oversimplifications and pi=pie jokes can't quite provide any value when learned and that knowledge tought without the mathemathical concepts can't really be put into use (just knowing 3.14 or that it's related to circles without the formulas doesn't actually bring you anywhere).

Don't get me wrong, I am for celebrations on Scratch.
However, celebrations on Scratch should either deliver educational or creative value. From the educational side you could have approaches like earth day. The full understanding of the earth and it's nature and climate system isn't neccessary and it makes it possible to approach younger users with the topic whilst bringing immediate benefits such as learning about avoiding littering and saving power. However, the “knowledge” brought by pi day isn't applicable anywhere.
From the creative perspective you could for example say halloween, which allows you to freely create projects themed on scary things. However the topic of pi doesn't really allow much creative expression, which is why we are stuck at “pi=pie” for most of the time.

This obviously means just to stop the official celebrations of pi day of the site. You can obviously still mention pi and make a pi day project but it's just not one of this site's official activities.
Also, obviously I am not saying just cut one event and leave a hole, but to replace it with something that solves these issues.
One such approach is replacing pi day with the international day of mathemathics.
Learn more about that here.

Support! A little off topic but pi day is so forgotten that my school doesn't even celebrate it or mention it.

1. How does it take up creativity??
2. The constant is very popular.
3. Many people know and care about it.
4. Many children know what π is, and if they don't, they will search it up

No support, there is no reason to stop celebrating one of the most significant numbers.

I agree with the person above me for reasons.
For creativity you could also make something based on circles, pies, pi, etc

3.14159 This Is Pi followed by followed by 2-6-5-3-5-8-9 Circumference over diameter 7-9, then 3-2-3 etc etc (tis the song)

In my opinion Scratch should stop making official celebrations of pi day. It takes up large amounts of space for creativity and community.
It's just a constant and it is really an extremely small group of people who actually care about this and basically none of the 8-12 year olds on scratch even know what pi is meaning it is confusing for children.
additionally, on march 9, five projects get featured within minutes and no one knows why

You can still make projects about it as I see that but not a official celebration for pi day that just crama up the site and confuses children.

This doesn't say you can't make a project on pi for that day if you do care, however REALLY most people don't and it takes up the space for projects on diverse topics, ranging from animations to games to whatever you come up with and replaces it with projects related to a single number children who this site addresses don't even understand.
I want to stop the official (by ST) pi day célébrations.

Maybe because of the superior D/M calendar?

Pi day doesn't make sense on calendars that use the day/month format.
