If you were going to add AI on Scratch, make it an optional feature.

A lot of people think that AI on Scratch would cause drama in the community. I suggest that if AI is implemented, users should be able to keep it off (the default option) or on if they need ideas. Also, for those suggestions that projects were used by AI, you should give users the option to display that the user was using AI, not making them required. A user who made a project using AI may not want to reveal that they used AI to make the project to the public, nor do they want their own projects to be used to train AI. What do you think?

The AI is supposed to assist in debugging and whatnot, so it would be on by default. Only those who do not want to use the AI would be turning it off.

Anyways, support! Some people might only want human resources (me included).

No support, just don’t use it.

How is this a dupe? It does not completely remove the feature but instead makes it optional.

It would be off by default, but if the person is a New Scratcher and they create a project, a popup will appear that they can turn on ai or dismiss the popup.

It would get in the way of coding for Scratchers who do not want to use it and putting it in when you don’t need it seems unnecessary.

It’s not implemented yet.

AI IS going to be optional. Just because its there doesn't mean you have to use it

That is too long to read. But I'll read it, but to save time, you can quote the most important posts so that I don't have to spend time reading 15 whole long pages that is like 5 whole chapters.

It can get in the way for people who do not want to use AI and can take up their system memory, which is why I suggest keeping it off by default, but for New Scratchers who create a project for the first time there would be a pop-up in the editor that asks if you want to enable AI. It would say something like this:
Hello! Welcome to Scratch! It seems like this is your first time making a project. Try out our AI Assistant!
Turn on AI/Dismiss
You can always manage this option in your Account Settings.

By read the last 15 pages, I meant to read codubee's responses which start around 15 pages before the end of the topic. They started responding a day or 2 ago. The topic was apparently misinformation according to codubee.

Ever heard of clippy? Or Microsoft copilot? Those are the two most annoying assistants, because you can't turn them off.

I cannot turn off copilot in word, and it drives me absolutely crazy. And clippy could be turned off but it was buried in settings.

Also, AI is tempting. If it's there, I'll feel compelled to use it in moments of frustration, so support

Right now, I would not consider cloud data “required” in Scratch. It is, in my opinion, optional since it is a feature that you do not have to use, and you can completely avoid it by simply not using it.

I assume that AI wouldn't just take over the screen, it will probably be a window or button that the user has to interact with. It makes more sense to just not interact with the button/window if you would not like to use it rather than have a feature to turn an already optional feature off, similar to how there should not be a feature to turn off cloud data.
