activity

i'd say i'm around a 7/10? my activity has slowly been rising over the past few weeks, and i believe it's starting to settle at the level i'm currently at. i tend to check scratch at least once a day, and often get up to two to three times a day, though i am no longer spending hours at a time on scratch due to responsibilities irl. on average, i spend an hour on scratch each day, though it can vary slightly. ^^

applicant information

hi! i'm snicker or ness, as mentioned previously, and i've been on scratch for five years. i'm most involved in the art and roleplaying communities, especially wcrps. some of my hobbies include drawing, listening to music, biking, and, of course, roleplaying! i originally started roleplaying on scratch two years ago, in a few various smaller roleplays, though i rped offsite for a year or so before that. some of my favorite bands include radiohead, will wood, the crane wives, and more, though i like most genres of music.

previous gens characters

➤ mushroomdoze (she/he) was my first gens character, and the child of sleepyhaze and sprindaze, a flurryclan medic and warrior, respectively. he lived exactly five months, from novemeber 2024 to april 2025, making it to elderhood. shortly after that, she died in the last round of the fc/mc war over splish splash pond. i'm happy with his interactions with other characters, though if i had a do-over, i'd try and spend more time developing lore earlier into her life. at the moment, he resides in starclan, and acts as a ghost mentor and comfort oc.
➤ slumber (he/it) was the son of citrusmelody, the ex-medic of flurryclan and dahliablade, a loner. as a kit, he started out as a loner, before joining the guild of roses, though it eventually ended up leaving just before the mass-starvation. i'm quite proud of his relationships and his lore, though i needed to take a hiatus during the summer, and ended up being less active with it during that time than i would have wished. he lived from may 2025 to november 2025, and died due to old age. it is currently a shade, and i'm currently working on wrapping up some final character development with him in the afterlife.

i'll be applying for glorykit! the second i saw this litter, i was immediately interested, and that only grew once i saw him and his description. i hope you enjoy reading this application as much as i loved writing it.

identity

gender + pronouns
➤ kithood . cis male, he/him
as a kit, glorykit does not pay much mind to his gender. sure, he'll acknowledge it when others mention it, but for the most part, glorykit is entirely unconcerned with it. he's perfectly content with how he is, so why linger on it?
➤ apprenticeship . questioning, they/he
as glorykit starts to move through apprenticeship, and notices his peers who have adopted new pronouns, or now go by something different, he begins to start truly reflecting on his gender. while he feels like a tomcat, he also finds he is alright with other labels and pronouns. during this stage in his life, glorykit will experiment with labels such as bigender and demiboy.

after reaching warriorhood, glorykit realizes that while he doesn't particularly mind any pronouns, that is due to his general indifference to the idea of gender, not reflective of his actual identity. he finds that, at the end of the day, glorykit feels like a tomcat. a tomcat that doesn't particularly care for gender, but a tomcat nonetheless.

loyal - unswervingly devoted
➤ glorykit is one of the most dedicated cats one can meet – though he doesn't give his allegiance all too easily, once one has secured it, it's incredibly difficult to lose. he'll gladly give whatever he can to those he cares for, whether that be his time, possessions, or anything else under the sun. treachery is, in his eyes, one of the worst vices possible, and he wouldn't even dream of doing such a practice. he views those he is loyal to as of an importance higher than all other, placing them on a pedestal. in his eyes, they can do no wrong.
determined - processing or displaying resolve
➤ once glorykit has set his sights on a goal, very little can sway him from it. he holds onto what he is attempting to accomplish with extreme conviction, as if he is scared of it being snatched away from him. nothing, whether it be weather, odds, or another cat, can sway him from a decision he is committed to. he's willing to try anything to achieve it, even at the potential risk of himself and others. in glorykit's eyes, the ends justify the means, no matter what the means are. his determination is certainly something to be admired, even if it tends to be a bit overboard at times.
independent - thinking and acting for oneself
➤ though glorykit doesn’t mind being a follower to those he deems worthy of it, he doesn’t limit himself to it. when he wishes to, he is more than capable of holding his own. glorykit takes great pride in his abilities to provide for himself, and can step into the pawsteps of a leader if a situation calls for it. he has no trouble with performing a task on his own. in fact, he often enjoys the uncomplicatedness of it. glorykit sees no need to meddle in the affairs of others, and prefers to keep his nose firmly in his own business.
alert - being aware of and watchful for possible change or danger
➤ glorykit is prone to a near-constant state of watchfulness and mental action – he is always evaluating the possible outcomes of a situations, and the dangers and benefits that could come from it. he hates to be taken by surprise, and holds a goal of avoiding being subject to it. he's willing to change his behaviors at a moment's notice, if called for. additionally, glorykit prides himself on planning ahead, and always having an exit strategy or backup plan if events go a different way than anticipated. to find glorykit unaware of his surroundings is an extremely unusual occurrence, even for those who aren't particularly close to him. all in all, glorykit is quite the vigilant tomcat.

ambitious - driven by the desire to achieve a particular goal
➤ to say glorykit has a desire to achieve would be an understatement – he brims with dreams and plans for the future. failure is one of his greatest fears, so he tries to shove it as far away as possible, whether that be with pestering other members of urchinclan to teach him new things, or, as an apprentice, training until he feels he could fall asleep standing up. while this is undoubtedly positive for glorykit's skillset, it can negatively affect other parts of his life, particularly his relationships with his peers and siblings. he may feel as though they are his rivals, and try to outdo them, or simply spend less time with them than he would have otherwise due to excessive hunting and training.
guarded - cautious and having possible reservations
➤ glorykit is reluctant to reveal information about himself to those he doesn't know particularly well – whether that information be anything from his favorite prey to his flaws. he keeps personal aspects of himself pushed inside of him to all except those he trusts. why do they want to know, anyways? there's no reason to be revealing parts of himself to cats he has just met, especially if he doesn't plan to see them often. he much prefers to reveal select aspects of himself once he knows where he and the other cat stand. glorykit values his privacy greatly, to be sure.
disciplined - exhibiting willpower and self-control
➤ once glorykit has established a routine, or a task he needs to complete, he'll try everything in his power to complete it. he's more than willing to make a few sacrifices to achieve a goal he has fixated himself on, and isn't one to slack off on responsibilities. additionally, glorykit is able to push away nearly all temptations that threaten his focus, cutting out distractions whenever possible. his demeanor when working on a task is often anything but lighthearted – he is entirely serious about potential accomplishments, and will not hesitate to neglect aspects such as physical health when concentrating on something, sometimes even forgetting to eat and sleep. after all, isn't it all worth it in the end?

NEGATIVE
insecure - lacking confidence and surety
➤ due to glorykit's obsession with perfection and productivity, he can struggle greatly when he falls short of his overinflated expectations for himself. as a kit, he will likely avoid activities that he doesn't do well at, which only heightens the shame he feels when he finally attempts them. after all, shouldn't he be able to do this already? he must be doing something wrong. glorykit is quick to blame himself when something goes wrong, or somebody's reaction to a piece of news is unfortunate. he should've been able to predict it and adjust accordingly, right? and he certainly doesn't hold back with self-criticism, going so far as to convince himself that one small misstep is as great as failing all that he had been attempting. this only further damages his already-fragile confidence.
judgmental - inclined to judge harshly and unfavorably
➤ though he doesn't admit it often, glorykit is quite the judgmental cat. he tends to make assumptions about others very quickly, and his mindset when it comes to his peers can be rather stiff. he struggles with empathizing with others, and doesn't particularly understand many of the actions others do. glory doesn't hesitate to categorize clanmates into broad and, occasionally, entirely incorrect boxes simply due to the presumptions he makes regarding them. he also tends to be hyper-aware to his own insecurities in others, and can quickly begin to oppose them because he sees parts of himself that he dislikes in them. this often makes it harder for him to befriend others, due to a disinterest in what he perceives of them.
perfectionist - perceiving anything less than perfection as failure
➤ glorykit is a raging perfectionist, something only worsened by his lack of self-esteem. he can never seem to be satisfied by his skill levels. glory often finds himself stuck in a loop of trying tasks again and again, until he reaches a level of perfection that is near-impossible and leaves him exhausted and burnt out. still, he can't seem to stop! along with his ever-present dissatisfaction, glorykit is extremely competitive, and can go too far when trying to beat an opponent, occasionally injuring a playfighting or sparring opponent on accident. however, that does nothing to quell his high expectations for himself, and his chastising when he inevitably fails. he is also extremely defensive and sensitive when it comes to criticism, even if it is meant to be constructive, as each remark can feel like a claw to the face.
unsympathetic - not feeling, showing, or expressing sympathy
➤ when it comes to others' feelings, glorykit is not particularly forgiving. he isn't a particularly empathetic cat to begin with, and, quite frankly, cannot be bothered to spend valuable time on trying to puzzle out exactly what they might be thinking. glorykit isn't very emotionally available, and tends to try and take a step back when emotions get high, which can impair his relationships with his friends and sibling. this is not helped in the slightest with his avoidance of his own emotions, and he often reverts to being dismissive of others' feelings. further, he isn't particularly aware of how his clanmate's moods can be affected by certain things, and often talks bluntly when not thinking about it.

⤹ glorykit will learn of marlinstar's expectations for him, and absolutely run with them. he will definitely be a mama's boy, and will try to do everything she asks of him, and more. her opinions and views will be placed on a pedestal above all else, and he will do everything he can to abide by them, even if he, himself, cannot understand why she would think that. after all, she's marlinstar, his mother! isn't everything she says sure to be correct? yes, there's no doubt he'll do everything she expects of him, or collapse trying. anything to make her proud.

⤹ at the end of the day, glorykit and victorykit are quite similar, and that will harm and improve glorykit's opinions of her in equal measure. he'll likely understand her and her motivations the best out of all of his littermates, though her arrogance and competitiveness, paired with glorykit's desire to prove himself, will cause them to fight often. as an apprentice, he'll likely try to spend lots of time with her, due to her exhibiting a similar drive of wanting to train and accomplish as much as possible. he may resent her for her insistence of leading the group – after all, isn't he capable as well? – but, when all is said and done, retains a level of care and loyalty to her not easily broken.

⤹ marlinkit remains a mystery to glorykit for many moons of his life; a beloved mystery, but nonetheless one he cannot seem to fully understand. that isn't to say glorykit dislike's marlin's company, though – no, quite the opposite! marlinkit is endlessly interesting, and displays a level of confidence glorykit yearns for. still, his rollercoaster ride of behavior and moods rarely cease to confuse glorykit, likely until partway into his apprenticeship. glorykit likes routines and certainty, and marlinkit often seems to avoid such things. though glory can have trouble empathizing with marlinkit, he enjoys his blunt way of speaking, and cares for him greatly. if anyone were to speak badly of glorykit's littermate, they'd quickly make an enemy out of him.

auditory-tactile synesthesia overview
➤ synesthesia is a neurological phenomenon where, when one sense is activated by stimulation, an additional unrelated sense is also activated. the initial stimulus is referred to as the inducer, and the secondary sensation is referred to as a concurrence. in most cases, synesthesia is present since birth, though, in rare cases, people can experience late-onset synesthesia. there are numerous types of synesthesia, such as day-color synesthesia, chromesthesia, spatial sequence synesthesia, and auditory-tactile synesthesia, which is what glorykit experiences. synesthetes with auditory-tactile synesthesia feel a physical sensation when hearing sound. while these physical sensations, which are concurrences, are commonly positive or neutral, they can also be negative. some synesthetes experience a concurrence for almost all noises, though many only experience them from some specific sounds, such as voices, music, and/or natural sounds. synesthesia is a very individual experience for all synesthetes, so while there are some triggers that are more common than others, many synesthetes can have different triggers. additionally, even when multiple synesthetes experience a sensation from the same sensory input, the sensations they experience can be very different. however, it is important to note that while an individual synesthete's will likely differ from another's, their own concurrences never change. for example, every time glorykit hears the sound of waves, he will have the same physical sensation – a warm vibration in his pawpads.

affects on glorykit
➤ glorykit's primary inducers for his synesthesia will be natural sounds and white noise, such as waves, the wind, and birdsong, and the occasional low-pitched voice. as a kit, he will think that everybody experiences these reactions, too; it isn't until a few moons into his life that he realizes that his initial assumptions were incorrect. while the discovery puzzles him at first – what must that feel like? – glorykit doesn't linger on it long. after all, it's none of his concern what his clanmates experience, and it isn't like he's bothered by his synesthesia. in fact, he doesn't often think about his opinion on it much. it's part of who he is, after all; it's not like he can change it. if anything, it affects him positively – the sensations he feels from sounds can help him identify and remember sounds better. for example, those who walk in a certain way, or whose pawsteps have a specific concurrence, are easier for glorykit to identify when he approaches. that isn't to say there aren't a few negative affects, though, as there are with everything. because of his synesthesia, glorykit is more prone to sensory overload than otherwise. this doesn't often bother him, but in environments with lots of excess noise, he can easily find himself getting agitated or overstimulated. this will likely be especially prevalent when he patrols the near mossclan border's forest, due to the large variety of birdcalls and noises from the trees. though glorykit eventually starts getting more used to it, he will often try to hunt and patrol away from the borders.

since all reactions to specific inducers do not change throughout one's life, i will be keeping a list of what glorykit experiences based on each sound, so as to not accidentally switch anything and/or misportray glorykit.

future plans

ranks
⤹ as of now, i definitely see glorykit going down the path of a warrior. while he wants to be useful to urchinclan and his mother above all else, and wouldn't mind being a medic, it never occurred to him as a real possibility. glorykit was meant to hunt and fight, not sit around in camp tending to his clanmates' injuries and ailments. his ambition will cause him to throw himself into training and patrolling as an apprentice and warrior, and will try to be of the most aid he can be to urchinclan. is there a hunting party lacking one member? glory is sure to offer himself up. he'll stay up late training, only to wake up early the following morning for the dawn patrol. after all, he'll have time to rest when he's old.
⤹ though glorykit has high hopes for what he wants to accomplish, he doesn't have a particular zest for becoming leader, beyond liking the idea of it. it would help urchinclan, and glorykit quite enjoys the control and confidence he imagines comes with it, but he isn't possessed with the burning passion that some of his other littermates and fellow clanmembers may possess. glorykit, however, relishes the thought of becoming deputy. the rank retains much of the responsibility and honor attributed to a leader, but at a level that glorykit is more than content with. all of the duties sound amazing, as well. the rank is helpful to the clan, and makes one's family proud, right? without a doubt, it is something that glorykit yearns for.
⤹ though this is less of a lore plot point, i do plan to try and keep glorykit for as long as i am able, and it is one of my personal goals to have him reach elderhood, just like my previous characters.
