Improving the comment reply system

The history of replying to comments:

1.4: Comment replies easily show what they're replying to by going on levels.
Problem: Only went to 3 levels, so therefore severely limited.

2.0: Comment replies go on only 1 level, and are unlimited.
Problem: The only indicator of what comment it's replying to is the linked username attached to the reply.

So now that I've summed that up, my suggestion is:

When you hover the mouse over a reply, it should highlight the comment it replied to. This would make it easy to see who replied to what with what comment, and it would be graceful and easy to implement and use. Plus it would clear up all kinds of confusion, especially when a lot of people have replied to the same comment, and then replied to the replies on that comment.

What if the comment is scrolled out of view? This would be harder to implement, but it should show the comment (maybe ghosted a bit) off to the side of the reply you're hovering over.

How about it, ST? I don't need it right away, but as jvvg put it:
