Some users have noticed recently that the Scratch editor is not working right, with graphical glitches and missing elements.

This issue is most likely caused by an interaction between Scratch and software you may have installed in your browser. In other words, when two different applications don't update at the same time, some issues can arise due to incompatibility, which means things not going together correctly.

So, if your editor is unusable, check for browser plugins you have installed, particularly those specifically for Scratch, and deactivate them for the time being.

• To turn on or off Chrome or Edge extensions, go to “More (···)” ▸ Extensions ▸ Manage extensions.
  
• To turn on or off add-ons in Firefox, go to “Menu (≡)” ▸ Extensions and themes.
  
• To turn on or off Safari extensions on macOS, go to the Safari ▸ Settings ▸ Extensions menu.

OMG TYSM FOR THIS!!! I WAS STRUGGLING WITH THIS AND I TRIED RESTARTING MY COMPUTER BUT IT DIDN'T WORK SO I CHECKED THE DISCUSS THING ON SCRATCH TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE WAS STRUGGLING WITH THISS

Well it does kinda make sense considering the Membership features that are coming to scratch. that include Cat Blocks

Turn off the “Cat Blocks” in the addons. This could be due to a formatting error when a utility attempts to change the appearance of the block. Thanks for help btw

im in actual disbelief rn this whole time it was just the cat blocks that was causing this issue lol… i spent a good like thirtreen minutes trying to figure out how to fix it only for the solution to be “turn off the cat blocks dude”

everyone turnedcat blocks off (exept me i do not have cat blocks) and the bug was fixed

Yeah you'll have to wait for the next extension update. It was caused by changes that Scratch made recently. There's a GitHub PR to fix this though.

Yeah I noticed it started happening right when I turned those on (I suspected it because of the recent cat blocks changes)
My browser / operating system: Windows Vista, Firefox 147.0, No Flash versions detected

It's the cat blocks for sure. I turned it off and YESS IT WORKS I CAN FINALLY GO BACK TO MAKING EDITS
