Expand Comments With AI
Hello Users of Scratch, I am suggesting a cool feature where you can expand comments with AI!

AI in this case is very susceptible to filling in the blanks- for example, ‘I liked the car’ could become ‘I liked the car, it adds a playful feel’, even if it doesn't. In my testing with ChatGPT, this happens the majority of the time.

Why did you add this type of comment to my project?

But, if I want to know what AI has to say about something, I can just go ask it.
“Brevity is the soul of wit” is a famous line from Shakespeare's Hamlet, meaning that being concise is essential […]Less is more. Also, AI uses a lot of electricity.
Yes, artificial intelligence (AI) uses a significant and growing amount of electricity.

I don't see the utility of this. If I wanted to read ChatGPT output I'd go to the website and generate it myself.

If it generates anything like that, then absolutely no way.

This is such a useless feature. I cannot see anyone ever use this legitimately other than joke purposes or if the people using this happens to be Roblox staff (they tend to speak in the most corporate and AI way possible). No support.

Why did you add this type of comment to my project?LOL

i do not like having words put in my mouth… i think most people dont like having words put in their mouths, really
what would the benefit be? you said ‘you can type more,’ but you cant type more, the computer can type more
no support

wow an automatic corny cringe generator for your comments, couldn't have thought of a better waste of infrastructure money myself
i think you're a bit too early though april fools isn't for another, what 4 months?

Jokes aside this is a terrible idea. Not only would it be excruciatingly painful to read such comments (given the extremely corny way AI speaks), and how expensive generative AI is in the first place, no.

I can see the benefit of this. However, due to the hostility and privacy concerns about AI being implemented into Scratch, you would need a “made with AI” stamp by the post. Also, whatever the heck you put on the mockup should not be the writing style of the AI.

Nay, good friend, permit me—by the waning light of reason and the swelling tide of earnest contemplation—to declare with all the ceremonious gravity that the moment might demand, that I must, with a heart weighed down by the leaden burden of reluctant conviction and a tongue compelled by duty rather than desire, offer thee a firm, resolute, and unadorned nay, though wrapped here in the velvet folds of far too many words.
(ehem ehem forgot ai mode on)
No.

the comment's writing style itself is giving way to much “hello fellow kids” and I have a feeling that's how AI would write comments, if it's instruction is to write like a preteen Scratch user.
Furthermore this is almost completely pointless and just seems like a way to unnecessarily shove AI into Scratch.
AI would also likely just start adding random nonsense to comments and the tool itself would be used to evade spam detectors.
besides, if someone is perfectly able to articulate my own comment then why would they need AI to expand it?
Maybe, like mingo-gag said, it is time to take a break from scratch and spend some time with real people.

This is not a good idea. There's several reasons, I'll go over a few real quick:
1. Completely unnecessary. If I wanted to talk to chatgpt i would go over to the chatgpt website.
2. Chances are, people will probably find ways to exploit it to get around the filter.
3. Character limit. The AI can't talk in more than 500 characters or it's just going to get cut off.
4. Hallucinations. AI can often hallucinate things that didn't happen.
5. Cost. Generative AI costs a lot.
In other words, there is literally no benefit to adding this.

You’d get people having full on conversations with each other with ai lol
I don’t see why this is needed, especially since ai is so inaccurate
