Is Platformer games are taking over Scratch?

THERE'S A LOT OF PLATFORMER GAMES BUT I THINK IS TAKING OVER THE SCRATCH. SCRATCH IS NOT ABOUT TAKING OVER THE WEBSITE. SO WE NEED TO STOP MAKING PLATFORMER GAMES. THE AMOUNT OF PLATFORMER GAMES IS CREATED DRASTILY AND IS GETTING WORSE. SO WHY DON'T YOU GIVE OTHER PROJECTS A CHANCE. SCRATCH IS NOT ABOUT FAME OR CULTS. ITS ABOUT IMAGINING, PROGRAMMING, SHARING. PLATFORMER GAMES ALSO STOLE SOME VEIWS TO GET FAME.

There have always been a lot of platformer games on Scratch, because they are fairly easy to code, and fairly easy to understand and play, and there are many tutorials on how to make platformer games from griffpatch, etc.

Also they are in fact really popular and get a lot of likes!

Most new Scratchers who want to make games will probably start off with a platformer game or two!

(Also please don't use caps, it comes across as shouting)

Most users will start with something that has an easy to follow tutorial which Griffpatch is great at making. Plus making a basic platformer gives users a general feel of how coding in scratch works. It allows you to understand collision, movement, damage, and basic level designs. Along with getting use to the scratch editor. I do agree there are a lot of them and most blend together but that's one of the downsides of an easy to make games that also are easy enough to play that the general audience scratch is aimed towards likes them. I do agree scratch is not about fame but seeing your work being appreciated makes it feel like your effort making it was worth it

Also, I forgot, Scratch is not about taking over the website or creating cults. Taking over website can be a deep problem.

Platformers are a useful tool, such as in some RPGs, especially scrolling ones. I myself am making a scrolling RPG/puzzle/platformer. still, I agree, there are far too many standalone generic platformers that may as well be clones of each other.

yeah. I reckon 10% of scratch projects are platformers with no original or creative extras.

Creators of platformers are not planning a takeover of Scratch or anything.

The code is complex, but there are many tutorials from popular scratchers on how to make platformers, and in reality, people don't even have to understand the code to change the game. People can just change the character, the spikes, the levels, etc. by using the costume editor.

True, but there is a growing trend towards platformers, due to the ease of creation and the number of platformer assets out there, I.e. that green base with brown dirt, unsaturated lava, red spikes, etc. these games don't take as much creativity to make as many other games, such as the majority of the things you find on featured.

Scratch has had a ridiculous amount of user-created platformer games that act similar to each other for years at this point. This isn't a new “issue”.

Plenty of other types of games get on the front page through the feature system and can get on explore; it just so happens that Platformers have been the most consistently prevalent ones.

Though admittedly, I'm pretty sure comparing platformers to literal cults is not helping your case.

It's just a genre that people just seem to like making and playing. There's no cult or planned takeover. Platformers are just a common type of project. You can't tell someone to stop making a game because there are many games in that genre, can you?

There isn't a growing trend at all, platformers have always been all over Scratch since as long as I can remember!

This is true. I think the kind of platformers that are recently popular is generic platformers. The ones that are black with one eye became a trend from 2020 ish I believe.
