make the parental permission thingy depending on each country/nation and not a hard 16+

alot of nations have different standards for “no parent perm needed” or “age required to use this site”
which means that you don’t have to set a hard 16+ requirement and instead use the minimum in each country/nation
so why not use that

I mean alot of sites or platforms already do this
so why can’t Scratch do it?

isn’t this a dupe?
there are some topics that suggest that
however it states it should change it to a strict 13+ requirement
(enough for US but not for something like Australia)
instead of being dependent on nations’ laws

also not all Scratchers would view other Scratchers’ posts
especially if it’s on next page or at the bottom

I honestly dk how to word it properly, ST just please read the context and don’t ban me
(I have to edit OP to fix that wording)

Forgive me, what does the 16+ requirement refer to, again?

Are they perhaps referring to the minimum age requirement to link a personal email instead of a parent? I believe that the age requirement for that is 16+

no, not really
in some countries it's 13
while in some it's 16
there are some that it's 15 (like mine)

Age of Consent is a term for um… not Scratch appropriate discussion. Let's choose a different terminology.

Digital Consent?
I occasionally hear that used

That's not it either, because it's still inappropriate content.

The policy is not a reasonably enforceable thing, so if you have your own email and have discussed with your parents about changing your account's email to yours (if you are a minor), then you are free to do so.
That is, of course, unless you are prevented from being able to change the email until the age you provided is 16+.

I have no idea what age of consent is referring to in this context but Scratch is headquartered in America and in that country the age of consent is 18. I don't see why Scratch should arbitrarily kowtow to other countries they have little involvement in.

I think they are referring to age of majority? Age of majority is 18 in the USA. Age of Consent actually varies from state to state. Scratch is accessible internationally, so there is reason to try to adhere to certain standards beyond that of the US.

Edit: This is my 4000th post that Scratch counts.

I'm aware. Still you probably should've chose a better terminology before hitting post because I promise you that when I saw this topic name, I stopped everything I was doing.
