|| background information about me

  . Hi! I’m Charlie, an artist, writer, roleplayer, and student who uses any pronouns. I’ve been on scratch for about 4 years, although I started roleplaying only about a year ago. I like most sports and swimming, but art is really my strong suit! I started out roleplaying as Specterghoul of Cavernclan (TSS), and then I got my first gens character! (Belugaear of Urchinclan). The overall community of both of these roleplays was just amazing and I quickly got hooked. I roleplayed as Oystercatcherear of Urchinclan, Songspire of Falconclan, and most recently, Beachwander of Urchinclan. I would say that Beachwander was one of the most interesting characters I've roleplayed, and I'm surprised that I was able to keep them for so long. I really love Generations as a roleplay, and I hope to stay part of it for a while more!

|| planned kit information, sexuality, and pronouns

  . please note that most of this application is geared toward crocus as an adult. no normal kit or kid would behave like this, and i plan to reflect that if i win him! just a small note so it doesn't come off weird!

  . main ideas
     . as a kit, he just wants to be good enough. scratch being popular, or smart, or the most-liked cat in the clan. he just wants to be normal, to have a normal life. and this might cause him to occasionally introduce himself under a different name, or hide his more snapling-y aspects. he'd try to particularly avoid those who looked up to his father, as he doesn't need followers or more grief. he just wants to be normal! so he'll try to find cats who don't really pay attention or feel indifferent.
       . as an apprentice, he would be incredibly jealous, as he would feel left out a lot! left out from a normal life, a normal clan, a normal father, a normal childhood. this would show in his relationships with both his siblings and close friends, as he'd tell them ‘how lucky they are’ or something along those lines. since his family has very high expectations, he would expect cats to be more disappointed in him if he did something wrong. this causes him to be a big perfectionist, but only inwardly.
     . as an adult, he is reaching his limit. he's done everything, yet he still lives in the shadow of others. so he'll run. run away from the clans, from all of the pressure, from all of the high expectations. he'll live his life as a loner for a while, keeping up his relations with his previous urchinclan friends as well as making new ones. he will likely join another clan after about 15 or so moons, either flurryclan or urchinclan. crocus will live out the rest of his life there, away from the eyes of scorn.

  . kit's future sexuality
       . I see him identifying as a biromantic demisexual. he would be attracted to both toms and she-cats, with a preference for toms. this is subject to change, though, as I would figure out his character more!

  . kit's future gender
       . I can see a few different concepts in my head, but most likely Crocuskit will either end up being male and using he/they pronouns or identifying as trans feminine and use she/her. honestly, it depends on what he would be like upon reaching his apprenticeship.

  . other ideas
       . five ‘stages’
          . to help myself keep track of his life, I would divide his life into five main stages, or main arcs! i've seen other roleplayers do things similar to this and I thought it was super cool and a great way to stay connected to your character, so I implanted it here! (note: these ‘stages’ would have smaller arcs and some time in between them, so they're not all at once)

              . stage 1 . “the evening star” // the first star that you see at night is false. this stage represents deception. this is his childhood. innocence, trust, lies. he will start by knowing nothing, and somehow come out as knowledgeable. this is when he meets other cats for the first time, builds first impressions, and figures out what cats want him to be. if one single cat sees him as something, he'll be that cat around them. he'll talk to family, form strong bonds, and make first opinions. what else is clay for then to sculpt?

              . stage 2 . “the frost” // everything the frost touches withers and dies. this stage represents destruction. this stage occurs during rangerhood and early warriorhood, where he finds out the truth about urchinclan. it doesn't surprise him, to be honest, having heard of the trials and legends of his father. it doesn't take much to push him over the edge. is this his fate? it was meant to be this way, right? he will most likely gain a few kills around this time, as that's the norm for urchinclan cats. no matter how bad it seems, it can always get worse. or better.

              . stage 3 . “the spider” // the spider may look friendly, but it is deadly all the same. this stage represents guilt. after stage 2, he'll wallow for a while, thinking back to what he did. what could he have done differently? this stage will help him gain some friends, as it'll occur around the begining of warriorhood. this is after most urchinclan warriors learn about the clan's dark forest roots, and after most of them have their first kill. guilt is inevitable, so he'll bond with others about this. who knows, maybe someday it'll get better. more things that he could change, more horrible memories cemented in stone.

              . stage 4 . “the downpour” // to truly get rid of something, you must become pure. this stage represents cleansing. that's the main thing driving crocus through this stage, through all of the hurt that he might have caused. he reaches out to cats he hurt, to cats he might have ghosted, and to the families of a cat. he is trying as hard as he can to be more than just an evil urchinclanner. he doesn't quite realize that he might be making things worse, until it happens. most likely an argument with a close cat, he starts to regret everything, and tries to fix it again. always trying to fix what can't be fixed. so he just lets it happen. water flowing in a stream, slipping through his paws.

              . stage 5 . “the shooting star” // shooting stars only live for so long. when they fall, why don't they scream? this stage represents the end of a cycle, or the start of a new one. this stage would take place right before his death, as he would become more reflective and start to pity his past selves. overall, who will remember him once he's gone? who will they remember him as? himself, or the ghost of his father? no matter what, he will die. memento mori. had he succeeded?

       . SRP information
          .. one of the main things I love about roleplaying is writing self-roleplays! they can be great ways to explore new concepts, writing styles, or ideas. most of my characters so far have been pretty srp-heavy, and I don't see that stopping anytime soon! i'd probably aim to have a SRP about every two weeks, except for when there's a big event (ex: close cat's death, new leader. fight, etc.)

  . protruding fangs
    . what are protruding fangs? protruding fangs, or snaggleteeth, are misaligned teeth (or tooth) that stick out of the cat's mouth when it's closed. protruding fangs can be caused by a number of things, including jaw or tooth misalignment, retained baby teeth, or injury. protruding fangs in pet cats normally get corrected through surgery or cat dental treatments, but Crocuskit will not have access to anything like that.
    . main info protruding fangs, or snaggleteeth, are misaligned teeth. they can make eating quite hard, as the cat has to navigate around them, and cats may develop gum disease or the snaggleteeth can fall out. this causes pain and occasional bleeding in the gums, so it is very important that a cat with a snaggletooth or snaggleteeth receives good dental care. dental care is not available to croc, so he'll have some mouth pain throughout his life. herbs can help relieve this pain, so he may go to the medic to get pain relief herbs. protruding fangs also make things like grooming and even talking harder, although only one of these will affect crocus.
    . how will this affect crocuskit? Crocuskit will have some difficulty eating, with his fangs sticking out of his mouth, so he'd most likely prefer prey with less bones in it and might hunt with mainly his claws. His fangs would have their good side, though, as they are better for prying (ex; opening crab shells or getting things under rocks). He'd have to watch what he does, though, because sometimes protruding fangs can become loose and fall out. he would stay away from using the ‘killing bite’ when hunting, and adapt his fighting style to reflect this. his pelt would be pretty matted, as grooming is very hard for cats with protruding fangs. overall, he'd have to make a few changes to a warrior's normal lifestyle, but he would have a good life.

  . bobtail
    . what is a bobtail? a bobtail in cats is a tail that is shorter than a normal one, or an otherwise malformed tail. there is a high amount of variety in bobtails, with some cats sporting stubs, some with almost half-tails, and some with no tail whatsoever. bobtails are caused by genetic mutation, and they can live long and wonderful lives with the right care.
    . main info .  Most bobtails in cats are caused by genetic mutation. in cat breeding, it is known that if a kitten receives two copies of the gene that causes bobtails, the kitten is at a far higher risk for manx syndrome and many other spine and hip problems. however, crocuskit most likely only carries one copy of this gene, as snapdragonstar doesn't have a bobtail. Bobtails normally mean that the spinal vertebrae are cropped short, but not enough to cause severe spine and hip problems. cats with bobtails often face a higher risk of developing hip dysplasia and spina bifida in life, so it is important that bobtails are taken to the vet to check for these diseases.
    . how will this affect crocuskit? . Crocuskit would be quite clumsy for his first few moons of life, as would not know how to balance properly. this will be easily corrected with exercise and balance practice, which would be part of his normal life. A warrior's lifestyle is very active, so he'd quickly pick things up, no slower from your normal cat. he will not have a hard time doing anything, except for in those first couple of moons. he most likely will develop some form of hip dysplasia, which causes severe joint pain that gets worse as the victim gets older. this would make it very hard for him to hunt and fight, so he may retire early. he'd often go to check-ups with the medic, just to get medicine for joint pain and make sure that nothing else is happening. overall, he'll have a slightly different life than a cat with a tail, but it would be a long and good one!

  . For my concept of him, I imagine him starting out with a very different personality and it slowly changing over time (extrovert to introvert, etc.) . I would regularly switch out traits to show this.

     .. Crocuskit is a strange kit. he will go straight up to strangers, not even a bit nervous on the outside, and strike up a conversation. he's an extrovert, so he prefers to be around other cats far more then me enjoys being on his own. part of this is simply that he finds his plain, unfiltered self boring. the other part of this is that he was raised around so many cats, so it's strange for him to be on his own. he is focused, meaning that once he finds something that catches his attention, he'll stay locked on it for quite some time. this has its ups and downs, as it gets him stuck in the past a lot, wishing about something done wrong. He attempts to stay in the moment, but often fails, slipping off or daydreaming during important things. he likes to keep doing things, such as always talking or moving or watching or something else, if only to cover up what happens when he turns his gaze inward. because deep down, cro doesn't like himself. he'll wonder what it would be like to grow up somewhere else, to have a different family, to be someone else. of course, he knows it'll never happen, but what can a little imagination do? this often makes him appear cold, as he has little to no compassion for those outside his own little false world. he tends to fluctuate his mood very quickly, going from happy to mad in a matter of seconds. he's judgmental to nearly every cat, minus cats higher up on the ladder than him. he respects authority, as his father was a leader, and sees highranks as cats with the most power and control over their own lives. 

|| why should I get this kit?

  . Although there isn't any real reason why I would give him a better life than anyone else, I believe that I could give Crocus a long and fulfilling life, and I really want that for him. I connect to my characters on a pretty deep level, slowly modeling them after myself so they are relatable to me and others! I would keep his plot fresh and interesting, and I would love to build tons of connections for him. on the activity side, I will admit that I'm not that great. I am a huge procrastinator, so things often end up put off until the last minute. This is a big problem, especially for roleplays such as Gens, where time burns so quickly. I would aim to do at least three threads per week, and a SRP every two weeks. This would help me manage the stress a lot better and have a clear and concise schedule. Overall, I believe that I could give Crocuskit a good home, and I hope you consider my application!

|| why do I want this kit?

  . At first, I wanted Crocuskit simply because of his amazing design and his possible family relations! I saw a lot of potential, and many ways for his life to turn out. I started thinking of ideas, and that's when I really started to see my concept blossom! I love the idea of a character who has it all, yet is always overshadowed. his dynamics seemed super fun, and I really like urchinclan, so win-win! honestly, I think I could get really attached really quick to this little guy. That might be a problem, seeing as the average lifespan of a cat in Gens is around five moons. I see myself giving Crocuskit a good life, and that's really all I want! for this silly kitty to have a good life.
