tbh some girls dont like pink and some dont like blue. some are transgender and binary aswell, and there are many other genders.

You're also able to create your own profile picture that communicates your gender. Or, you can write in your About me.

If this was added it should definitely be an option on the account creation form, as well as a gender neutral icon. Remember Scratch has more gender options than just male and female - non binary, prefer not to say, and an other option where you put your own gender (bigender, agender, FTM, MTF, etc).

This could also be incorporated into the other suggestions for more default profile options so people could pick any of the other characters from the cast.

What would the icon be if someone is non-binary? and most people change their profile pictures, so you wouldn't be able to tell their gender (why would you even need to know their gender /genq)

or better yet, just give a tutorial on how uploading a profile picture works so more newbies are inclined to do so instead of keeping the default blue cat silhouette.

no support, this just promotes stereotypes and people change their profile pictures anyway. this also doesnt include enbys or other gender identities.

If someone wants to share their gender they can do so already in their profile's about me section. I'm not opposed to wanting more default options/presets for profile pictures but I'd rather have them separate from gender. Perhaps upon making an account you are given the option to choose between a selection of different scratch mascot inspired profile pictures and also told how to change your profile picture including how to upload one. That way we can have users starting Scratch still with a default pfp as a placeholder until they find a new pfp, however that default pfp has a couple options so that people can decide which one they like the most. Gender should be a separate option and should not determine which default pfp you get as people have already mentioned that could be quite stereotypical and wouldn't be welcoming to people who don't conform to the gender binary.

1. there are way more genders like non-binary, agender, trans, etc. etc., so what would they choose?
2. we'd need infinite icons. there are infinite genders because of xenogenders.
3. that is incredibly stereotypical. i'm a girl (?) and my favourite colours are blue and yellow.
