Well… why exactly would people be against pride month?
Bear in mind, if the only reason is to be rude to LGBTQ+ people or disrespect them, Scratch doesn't allow that.
It’s never OK to attack a person or group’s identity or to be unkind to someone about their background or interests.

Because scratch accepts all people

Why shouldn’t they celebrate a month just because a few ignorant people are against it?

Because the Scratch Team is inclusive and wants to welcome everyone, and many users of the platform (including myself) support, or are a part of, the LGBTQ+ community. It’s the same thing as if someone who celebrates Christmas creates a Christmas event for their game. Not everyone celebrates Christmas and not everyone who plays the game celebrates Christmas but that doesn’t prohibit the creator from creating the event.

Even if someone does not approve of it, that is no excuse to be mean to people.

Happy Pride Month, everyone!

Pride Month is a celebration of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Community in recognition of the impact LGBTQ+ folks have had on the world. It is celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan, which were the tipping point in the movement for LGBTQ liberation in the United States. Today, celebrations are held around the world and include pride parades, picnics, parties, and more.

Whether you identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community or an ally, Pride Month is for everyone! We invite you to celebrate here on Scratch. If you are looking for ways to celebrate, you might consider:
Creating a project to wish someone a happy Pride Month
Designing a project about someone who inspires you in the LGBTQ+ community
Animating a Pride celebration party or parade
Making a project that allows others to design their own Pride-inspired flag or character
Writing a poem or story about being an ally
Designing a kindness generator that shares messages of encouragement related to Pride and inclusivity
Creating a project to help others learn about the history of Pride Month
