Changing Usernames [SOLUTION] [READ THE ENTIRE THING BEFORE SAYING REJECTED]

If you are changing your username (you can only do this once per account), you will leave a redirect from your old username to new username.
Like this:
BACK8543 redirected to BACKis_Super or something
Note that the old username will not become available.

And it will also inform that the username got changed not only on the profile page, but it will also show up on the What's happening? page to those who are following the user.

Also, it will show your old username right next to it, too. It will be in parenthesis: BACKis_Super (Was BACK8543)

In cases if the username is inappropriate, the ST can revert their new username (the new username will not become available) back to their old username, and a redirect will be left behind, but it will not show the new username in parentheses, because of the Community Guidelines. The user will have permission to change their username again.

If the user changes their username to an inappropriate username again, the ST may temporarily or permanently block the user after reverting the username again. And it’s from the website, not the feature itself.

Also, after changing your username, similar to changing your password, you will be automatically logged out and will be prompted to sign in again.

If the old username is inappropriate, the ST can remove the old username next to the new username. The redirect on the old username will still exist, and the user will have permission to change their username again.

Changing Usernames [SOLUTION] [READ THE ENTIRE THING BEFORE SAYING REJECTED]

The Official List of Rejected Suggestions wrote:

8.1 Changing usernames or changing display names
If a user could change their username (or even set a certain “nickname” or “display name”), this could be very confusing for the Scratch community, especially for those following that user. In addition, this would make moderation of the website more difficult because it would be harder for the Scratch Team to keep an eye on what a user may be doing. The Scratch Team has allowed username changes only on very rare occasions, such as if the username contains personal information or causes gender dysphoria. Generally, the Scratch Team does not change usernames on request (including for reasons such as “I do not like my current username anymore”).
This is still rejected and this isn't a solution. It doesn't matter if you can only do it once per account, this still goes against the reason why the suggestion was rejected.
Most of the time, a solution for a rejected suggestion ( especially this one ) would have to be constructive and showcase a work around for the reason why the suggestion got rejected.

I said read the whole OP. Only once per account isn't only the case, you leave redirects of your old account, and it will say on What I've Been Doing page, (OLD USERNAME) has changed their username to (NEW USERNAME) and it will also show up on the front page if you are following that user.

Apart from rare instances such as personal information or causes gender dysphoria, you simply can't change your username. Its rejected and this isn't a solution or work around.

I think this would be a good idea. NOT to change usernames, but if a username was changed because of gender dysphoria, personal info, etc. the message of the name change would show up in ‘What I’ve Been Doing,' just like any other post, and would eventually get drowned out by other activities. While this seems a little nit-picky, I think it would be helpful and give other users looking at the profile a better understanding.

The main point was that there wouldn't be any reason for username re directions in the first place as changing usernames on most cases is simply rejected. ( I have removed that part, I do see that the TOLORS snip could work there other way round )

He didn't, it's just phrased weirdly.

Also not 100% sure this is technically within TOFoRS, but it makes sense so: support

I don’t agree. Why would anyone try to show their previous username in such cases?

dont assume a solution is rejected before the st says so
the redirection is to solve the confusion, which is one of the main reason why this is rejected

like my solution to display names (not the same as changing usernames, yes, but still included in that tolors snip) have been up for 2 years. you just need a good enough solution

No no no! I’m talking about changing usernames in account settings with a limit of only once per account while leaving a redirect behind, putting the old username smaller but in parentheses right next to the new username on the profile page, and a message in what’s happening and what I’ve been doing, letting you know they have used their one time username change.

will the old username be reusable?
