Images not seeming to work when exported outside of scratch.
Hi,
After i made some art here, i downloaded it to my computer and put the “.png” after it.
When i went to open it in several different softwares, including the default picture viewer for Windows 7, it says that it's an unsupported file type.
What should i do? Is there a way to fix this?

Hmmm… interesting. Are you trying to export a bitmap image or a vector image? They both have very different image extensions then the other, so you'll have to be careful about that.

It's vector. Does that tell you what I am doing wrong?

Yes, I was even guessing that this was the issue because you wouldn't be getting the error otherwise.Hmmm… interesting. Are you trying to export a bitmap image or a vector image? They both have very different image extensions then the other, so you'll have to be careful about that.

Well, the issue here is that .png, .jpg, and most image formats you will find are all bitmap formats. Taking a vector image and slapping “.png” onto it's end won't change the fact that it's not bitmap and will never be a bitmap image. Windows Viewer detects that, and since Vector isn't a supported image format, it can't open it. That's why you're getting the error that you are. You'll have to be careful; although vector is supported here on Scratch and on web browsers, it isn't supported much anywhere else, or at least that what I guess.
Still, there's good news. There are several image editors that support vector images, and so you could try using those, but I haven't used them before, and so I can't really say what you can/can't do with them. Still, they might help.

Vector is usually svg.
I don't think Scratch exports svg though.

I believe .svg, though I'm not 100% sure, and Scratch might store it in something else.Yes, I was even guessing that this was the issue because you wouldn't be getting the error otherwise.Hmmm… interesting. Well, that's what happened with Scratch 1.4 sprites. You can only open them in Scratch, and I think the same thing might be happening here. I'm not sure what the use would be, but maybe something can be clobbered together someday. Hmm… Still doesn't work at all. What's the use of being able to download your art to a local file, only to not be able to open it?

To: The scratch team:
Is it possible or already in your plans to make the images made from y'all's graphic editor compatible with everything else, or, make them export to normal pictures?
This would be great, as this is the only editor that's simple and i am comfortable with.
