this thread is dedicated to the DS and Nintendo 3DS family of systems. The Nintendo DS was first released with it’s first model, the original DS in 2004, which was then followed with the more popular DS Lite model in 2006. The Nintendo DSi later launched in 2008 as a new revised model of the DS Lite which added new features like a camera, a home screen, and exclusive downloadable software called DSiWare. However, the DSi removed the DS and DS Lite’s GBA slot, which was used to play games from the DS’s predecessor, the Game Boy Advance, and was also used with certian attachments. They later released the last model of the original DS line with an XL version of the DSi called the Nintendo DSi XL.

The entire DS line was then succeeded by the Nintendo 3DS, which added a stereoscopic 3D screen, and a 3D camera. The line started with the Nintendo 3DS in 2011, then an XL version called the Nintendo 3DS XL. Some younger kids couldn’t play on a 3DS, as the 3D would ruin their visual development. So, in 2013, the Nintendo 2DS was released as a cheaper alternative. In 2014, Nintendo made a successor to the 3DS simillar to that of the DSi, called the New Nintendo 3DS, which added eye tracking to the 3D, added better graphics, and added a small C stick. This was alongside the New Nintendo 3DS XL, which was another XL variant. Then, in 2017, the released the New Nintendo 2DS XL, which is a model in simillar vain to the 2DS, which removed the 3D, but it still had the improved graphics and the thumb stick.
