(Only reason I'm using she/her for star is bc pre-transition lol)
The moon rose, and so did Celestialpaw, forgoing her rest in preference to train. She still couldn't fly like her brother, Solstice, whose wings sparkled like dawn when he spread them wide to dart through the sky like an arrow. Ice spotted the tree like pinpricks as she clawed her way up its boughs, making her way up, up, up, as high as she could go. She spread her wings, inching her way out onto the thin branch, which groaned in protest under her weight.
And she flew…
And she fell.
Tumbling, head over strange, barely-feathered tail, down, down, until she landed with a thump at the base of the tree's roots, thoroughly ruffled. She checked herself over, looking for any signs of injury, and was relieved to find naught but a scrape on her hind leg, blooming slightly blue. It was blue, for of course she could not have the same red blood of the rest of the clan.

Even her blood was too different.

Celeste was so, so tired of this.
They didn't want to be different. They didn't want to be a constant reminder of the clan that had murdered FalconClan's leader, the clan that had invaded and destroyed and harmed everything in their path.
And yet, here they were.
Star took a breath, collecting stars thoughts. No point in getting emotional. That wouldn't fix anything. Fae glanced up at the night sky, folding faer useless wings, feathers spotted with stars and yet cursed to never fly.
What if fae didn't belong here? Everyone said star did, everyone was so, so polite.
They couldn't help but wonder how much of it was just that, politeness. Nothing more. Surely, their differences were what drew the eye, the source of glance after curious glance. Never their heart, or their hard work, that inspired curiosity. No, only faer horns. Faer too-small wings. Faer strange tail.
Star could hardly blame them. It wasn't the Clan's fault they couldn't just be a normal fox-darned cat.
Fae glanced at the crystal around stars neck.

Although.. maybe they could be normal. Just for a bit.
