I think we can just invite them, and than explain to them why they were chosen in the main studio, in like a group message to be more efficient?

Sounds good. I have invited those of my studio.

Do we all want to mentor the same stuff, just so this way it will be fair across all four cabins?

Yeah that makes sense! <3 What's should the first topic of discussion/ first lesson be?

Yeah that makes sense! <3 What's should the first topic of discussion/ first lesson be?
How does improving reviews/making them more individualized sound?
EDIT: Anyhow, it seems like Zendra is busy atm, and because many people are concerned about not being invited to a cabin even though they were approved, I have gone ahead and invited them to her cabin for her. Hope this is okay.

Yeah that seems perfectly fineAnd…yep..improving reviews is a great place to start! We can have the first lesson….Monday?
How would this work? Do we want to have them review a specific project, and then go from there?

bump.
I've started training in my cabin to delay any more procrastination from me lol. Anyways, this is what I said.
Of course, if you want to model it off of mine, you are free to do so. If you want to start off with something else, you are also free to do that too. I hope this is okay.

It's that time - welcome to personalized training! For your first task, just so we get a placement on where your position is, please review and comment on this project - https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/501360169/. This is actually my first ever project, so that is exciting! Looking forward to seeing your reviews, thank you everyone for participating and signing up!

Tbh, I have noticed the same thing. When Nat left, I sort of lost a sense of motivation, but I would like to continue it. Any ideas how, though? Do we just revamp the studios, accept new apps, etc? Hey guys, Are we still continuing this foundation? I've seen many of yo inactive so just asking.

Maybe there's some way to revamp it into something new? I mean, the whole…lessons, plan got confusing.

Hmm…I think let's first continue our first batch. Also, we can accept some more. I think this will revamp the studio.Tbh, I have noticed the same thing. For the lessons or assignments, I think we could dedicate something which will improve the qualities each helper need. here are some ideas:
1. Reviewing (we can give some projects to review and then give feedback on how to improve as TDL said)
2. Problem-Solving (we can give each individual a small problem like a bug or something else in Scratch that each scratcher could tell how to fix)
3. Community Guidelines (a small quiz to test the knowledge of the Helpers. Well the guidelines are important)
4. We can add some more…this is all I can think of now, maybe a final assignment where the Helpers could reflect on their own activity by creating a small project or a comment on what they have learnt during our time with them)
That's true. Do you have any ideas on how to? Or into what?Tbh, I have noticed the same thing. When Nat left, I sort of lost a sense of motivation, but I would like to continue it. Any ideas how, though? Do we just revamp the studios, accept new apps, etc?

1. Involvement (we could provide a mini-lesson on how to be involved in the community, such as places such as the SDS, FPC, etc. We could also teach them that involvement does not necessarily mean you have to curate a studio - as long as you are helping out for the sake of helping out.)
2. Answering Questions (we could mock that we are a New Scratcher, and we have no idea what we are doing on the platform. Asking them questions such as: “What should I do first”, “What projects should I create”, “What are the featured projects on the front page”, “How do I get involved in the community”, etc could definitely build their skills and provide them with explanations on how to respond to these frequently asked questions.
Of course, these were just thought up at the top of my head. Would you guys think it would be a wise idea to pre-make these ‘lessons’ that we are doing project form (e.x. as Zendra suggested: a Community Guideline Quiz, for this we could just ask them to remix the project and put in their own answers.) I think we could start to switch over to doing this as compared to individualized training? That not only is more time-consuming, it is also much harder to do, and some may not gain information or learn things others did.
Another thing I want to point out is that we might want to alter some of the pre-made rules. For one, I think that having to have three people to accept your application before you were actually suggested caused sort of a problem, with many people asking on our profiles to review our applications. We also got overwhelmed easily, and I don't necessarily think there should be a camper limit. Perhaps instead, we could ask more people to create cabins? I think that any pre-accepted people should be asked if they wish to continue, and we could ask the people on the old waitlist if they are still interested. We could re-open applications and actually move into this with more of a plan (that is sincerely my bad for not really giving you guys information on how to proceed or what to do, my apologies).
Sorry if this is a bit long, I tend to write a lot lol.

That's a solid plan, great thinking! However, we might need to create some clear guidelines on what to accept. Last time, we ended up taking in everything without any criteria, which, honestly, made things chaotic and ineffective or pointless if you ask me. If we're going to accept everyone, we could simply let them know upfront, but if not, we need a proper method in place. Any thoughts on how we can structure the application process more effectively??

I agree with the idea of pre-making the lessons. Based on what we’ve discussed so far, here’s how the lessons are shaping up:
1. Reviewing Projects
2. Problem-Solving Scenarios
3. Answering Questions ( This could either be combined with lesson 2 or kept separate since they overlap a bit. )
4. Community Guidelines Quiz
5. Getting More Involved in the Community
We’ll also have a final part that’s more of a reflection on everything we’ve learned and done, rather than a proper lesson.
Does this setup sound good to everyone? Or are there any other ideas you’d like? Totally open to changes!
Also, TDL brought up a good point about accepting a few people from the waitlist and checking if the current recruits are still interested. On top of that, how do you think we can make the lessons pre-made?

I think having five (or four, depending on if it overlaps) pre-made lessons will definitely help is go into this with a different mindset and we will be much more prepared. Perhaps we should draft the layout of the projects here, and then we could all each make a separate one? snip

If not a lesson itself, maybe be included in one of the lessons, how to deal with certain situations, and something about not starting drama/trouble- by this I mean I've seen people pick fights with other people in the studios…but this could probably fall under problem solving scenario's.
Otherwise that sounds really good!

new idea: what if each of us focused on a specific lesson, and instead of splitting people up into cabins, each cabin just focuses on a specific topic- with a couple projects- and people rotate through each of the four cabins. Anyone can join- meaning no application process, so anyone can be there at any time. And cabin sessions last for a week each before the campers rotate. (did I explain this well enough? XD)
Like for example say this wasn't an SDS and we were learning about *blanks* Apples. Each of us focused on a specific part of the apple (the skin, the core, the seeds, *the actual part you eat that I can't think of the name) and each of us has 4-5 dedicated projects based on each part of the apple- with a project or two, and some form of quiz at the end about that part of the apple. People can go to each of the cabins which each teach about a specific part of an apple, and rotate through the cabin.
It'd solve the issue of having to select people, and shuffle through applications-
Also of course this is just an idea XD we don't have to do this!
