I thought this was rejected, but I can't find it. Either way, the Scratch Team does not need people to know if it's NFE. I'll report and ask a Scratch Team member to officially reject it and give a better explanation.

This is rejected. I once received an alert for linking an NFE detector in my signature, and they said “If we wanted the NFE to be visible, we would have added it to the interface”.

But people who use extensions are allowed to comment about a project being NFE. Why is that?

I don't think they're actually allowed, just not reported.

im pretty sure that the NFE mechanic wasn't even supposed to be made public. some people dug around in the websites code and found it
I remember hearing this somewhere, but I forgot where. So kind of a “trust me bro” moment

I will say this is rejected at the moment (and there are no plans to change it). The rating status of a project is a tool for admins, not users. We do not answer questions about why a project was rated a certain way and we do not take requests to rate a project.
