lowkey instead of just banning people what if the scratch team just demoted scratchers back to new scratchers.
I mean just think about how effective that would be, it would be so frustrating not being able to go on multiplayer projects again, have to wait a long time to comment and things like that.

Scratchers are still able to be disrespectful and inappropriate as New Scratchers simply by sharing projects and posting comments. Solely demoting Scratchers to New Scratchers would be wildly ineffective at stopping bad behavior on the Scratch website; not everybody wants to play cloud multiplayer games. Also, what would happen if New Scratchers were acting inappropriately on Scratch? They couldn't be demoted to New Scratcher, because they already are one.

if they're already a new scratcher then they can get perma banned.

honestly, the entire report system is unfair, and the ST should really look into the reason for the ban, instead of just saying. “oh look, this person has 400 reports, lets ban him.” even if that may have just been mass reporting

please read this essay, a moderator reviews every report and the mass report system is pretty limited while often being lied about.

Blocking accounts is effective at stopping inappropriate behavior - and acts as a deterrent. So we will probably stick with it. Now, if we could only do more about respawns…
