scratch 4.0 is imminent
i have been on this website since june of 2021, and just today they have changed the ui on the actual scratch editor (somewhat majorly) for the first time. this gave me an aneurysm when i found it. I hate this.
There is also some other stuff like accounts registered as under sixteen years old now require verification from their parents via email, and also the tutorials page now being sorted, but this. what is this man. I think this may be the fact that scratch has announced 4.0 being underway in this job application (read paragraph 2, sentence 3), but i didn't think they would start rolling out updates this soon. I dunno, maybe this will just take some getting used to, sort of like the blue-purple thing, but who knows.
On a side note, this project here: {link removed by moderator} talking about the 4.0 update was up just this morning, but was mysteriously taken down sometime today. I could tell it was removed on purpose because i couldn't see the remixtree, like you could with normal deleted projects, meaning that Scratch is actively censoring this from the public.

scratch 4.0 is imminent
These updates are almost certainly unrelated to 4.0. The popup that appears when deleting a sprite was added because the delete button is easy to accidentally click, especially on touch screens.

Just because it has never happened to you doesn't mean it isn't a problem. So many things are about sprite deletion, and people complaining that their sprites were accidentally deleted, including myself. Now when they add a warning, people want to get rid of it. And I don't think that these updates are a part of 4.0 - they are just updates. (I MAY BE INCORRECT)

That project was taken down likely by accident, I have talked to the project owner. If it wasn’t an accident, we think they ARE trying to censor stuff about 4.0 to the greater Scratch community (not the forums) to avoid outrage about creative AI.

The studio update from 2.0 to 3.0 happened years ago

(I MAY BE INCORRECT)No, we're asking for it to be optional, like others also suggested before it was actually implemented I believe. For some people, it might just be annoying to have to have a warning every single time they delete sprites, or they just don't accidentally delete sprites often. I had no idea this feature existed until just like 1 day ago because of the fact that it didn't seem to be really announced besides on GitHub, so it was difficult to give feedback beforehand. Also, with the first sentence, what exactly are you talking about?
what if you accidentally delete a sprite thoThere actually is a restore button, but it only restores the last deleted thing.

The page that talks about 4.0 states that development will start in 2025 – note that doesn't mean that 4.0 will release in 2025. These updates are definitely not part of 4.0
On a side note, this project here: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1090906767/ talking about the 4.0 update was up just this morning, but was mysteriously taken down sometime today. I could tell it was removed on purpose because i couldn't see the remixtree, like you could with normal deleted projects, meaning that Scratch is actively censoring this from the public. That project became rather popular and it makes sense that Scratch would remove it, because like, the main Scratch community goes absolutely nuts over any new update information

If 4.0 is “imminent,” then how come the ST hasn't updated the 2.0 pages to 3.0 yet? If they were to update to 4.0, then the 2.0 pages would be two updates behind.

There is also some other stuff like accounts registered as under sixteen years old now require verification from their parents via emailE-mail verification for accounts was always required for Scratch accounts for many years. The wording had to change due to some recent changes in the legal landscape regarding moderation.
