why is the scratch search engine so bad?
It searches for exactly what you type. It doesn't look for keywords.
Still a far better search engine than Roblox.

thanks by the way for telling why it is bad thoughI don't think it's bad. In fact, I think it's better for finding more relevant results.

Apparently, the indexer stopped indexing new projects a while ago (iirc). You can search for projects by using the “<search query> site:scratch.mit.edu” on Google, which sometimes has better results. Note that Google searches the entire sites, including studios, user profiles, and forums, and it also might match unrelated projects based on the descriptions or comments sections. It also will list NFE projects as well, so if you don't want to see any NFE content, I don't recommend using Google.

Still, Google might be a better search engine that Scratch's
It searches for exactly what you type. It doesn't look for keywords. And the results that appear are based on a complicated algorithm involving where words show up, and how frequently, that is also the reason tagspam (spamming tags in a project's description to make it appear higher in the Trending category) works, and that searching for anything and clicking on “Trending” is the equivalent of having a button for a tag that is your search query on the Explore page.
Still a far better search engine than Roblox.I second that.
There have been cases where I've searched for one thing on Roblox, and the first result is that thing, and the second is completely unrelated

I didn't know that tag spamming actually did something. May I ask where you found this information? It searches for exactly what you type. The Explore page itself sort of proves this on its own. The Trending tab is flooded with projects that repeat the same few tags over and over again to appear higher in the list.I didn't know that tag spamming actually did something. It honestly probably worked well back in 2010 since there was way less projects than now.
