Why were some of the Scratch library sprites removed in 3.0 (e.g. Airplane)?
maybe there weren't very many people using them or the st didn't feel like they were really necessary

the airplane sprite was really pixelated and choppy, so that might be the reason

honestly my only assumption for the removal of some of these sprites is lack of usage, although we don’t know if statistics are kept by using the sprite library. that’s probably why some 2.0 sprites were simply removed from the library while others kept their place.
the airplane sprite was really pixelated and choppy, so that might be the reasonthen why do we still have the squirrel sprite? many of the human sprites? cheesy puffs? Dinosaur5? etc.

Should have seen this comingthe airplane sprite was really pixelated and choppy, so that might be the reasonthen why do we still have the squirrel sprite? many of the human sprites? cheesy puffs? Dinosaur5? etc.
Anyway, the resolution of those are still quite good comparing to the plane
It’s like cheese puffs but more pixelated
i’ll see if i can find it
also i did not say that was the reason it’s only a might

The airplane sprite looked like this:

It doesn't look that bad on a light background.

The only reasons I can think of are that it had something to do with Adobe Flash Player or that the developers were just being lazy. But those are the only things that changed.

(#8)I don't think Flash had anything to do with it. Scratch uses PNG for bitmaps and SVG for vectors, which are both widely used and supported.

There is no technical reason why the costumes had to be removed, and it would probably be more work to selectively remove assets from the library than to just copy them all over unchanged.
If I had to guess, the removal was probably due to licensing and/or copyright issues.
It may also have to do with Scratch moving toward vectors, which are generally higher quality; many bitmap assets were either removed or replaced with vector versions in Scratch 2.0 and 3.0.
