༶ why i want this kit ..
⠀༊ i first saw parable’s design in the tfcrp group chat on chaos, actually! flea had posted it in one of the ‘tfcrp-art’ channels, and as soon as i saw her i was in love with her design. beyond the fact that im a sucker for calico designs, the ideas i had for a potential personality came flooding in rather quickly, so much so i was stalking the channel for updates or information over who’s character’s litter it was for. thankfully, i didn’t have to wait long, because a few days later this litter came out, and to my elated surprise, i saw parable and immediately remixed the project to write down my concept ideas. i haven’t been this inspired to apply for a kit in a long while, and i think id always regret not at least trying to apply for her, so here i am! applying for the pretty baby <33
༶ why i should win ..
⠀༊ im not too fond of this question, because i think everyone has certain reasons why they’d be a good fit for a character, and it’s kind of hard to answer this without sounded snobby or something, but ill attempt this for para lmao — i think i should win her because i've been a part of tfcrp for quite a while now ( 2-3+ years! im old lol ) and a part of the warrior cats fandom even longer, and i think i can say i know them both pretty well. while i'm not quite as popular as other roleplayers, and my characters less prominent in the grand scheme of clan plots, i don't think that really discounts from too much. i try my best to be apart of any tfcrp events, and enjoy roleplaying with others no matter their experience, which would give the considerably antisocial parablekit a rather wide range of acquaintances, at the very least. my personality idea for her is something i think i could execute well, and would prove to have a multitude of opportunities and interesting roleplays. overall, i think i should win para because i think i could roleplay her well, and give her a fulfilling life!

⠀༊ ive been roleplaying on scratch for almost 2 and a half years now! ive been in a lot of roleplays, many of which have died out unfortunately, but all of which have been fun c:
༶ character history ( TFCRP and other ) ..
⠀༊ honeysplatter & raven :
⠀⠀.. honeysplatter was my first character in tfcrp, a sign-up cat and warrior of thunderclan; i didnt roleplay much with her, because i was more active in the art community and had barely grasped the rules of roleplaying, so, along with that, i also created raven, a kittypet, a week or so after, not knowing that you couldn't have only one character. after i got that sorted out, i continued to roleplay a bit with honeysplatter before ultimately removing her and taking a break from roleplaying in tfcrp.
⠀༊ carnationfaith :
⠀⠀.. in around late 2022, i rejoined tfcrp with carnationfaith of windclan, another sign-up character, during which i had gotten a better handle of the rules of tfcrp, how things worked, and the community. carnationfaith was mostly just a placeholder character, as during that time there were multiple open litters of which i was applying for; after winning buttermilkkit, she met her demise soon before he was born.
⠀༊ buttermilkperch :
⠀⠀.. buttermilkkit ( now buttermilkperch! ) is the first character in tfcrp i've ever really felt a ‘connection’ to. although his current personality has strayed from faer original concept, i believe xyr one of my favorite characters in tfcrp out of all my others, and, to be honest, i'd be sad to see him go; fae has went from a flamboyant, poetic soul to an adventurous, confident apprentice, and now a mostly tired of life but still trying to contribute warrior ( elder soon.. ) xe is today, and ive loved roleplaying with him for the ~80 moons faer has been present for, and if i do not win parablekit, i imagine he’ll continue to npc his life in thunderclan for a while yet.

⠀⠀.. splashdance! beloved baby <3 he’s filling my second-character slot, and my first tfcrp character after my abrupt hiatus a few months ago. he will most obviously not be dying if i win parable, as i think he’s still got a ways left to go life-wise, and im very excited to continue exploring it, regardless of if i win para or not!

༶ why i’m willing to leave my current character ..
⠀༊ after over a year and a half of roleplaying him, buttermilkperch has been a wonderful ‘introduction’ to tfcrp for me — however, ive come to a point where i don’t see any other avenues to take his life. ive been a little harsh to him in his early stages ( coughs in having him witness like three deaths.. sorry kee :’] ) and now i feel like he’s reached a time in his life where he can find peace in simply existing, which, as a roleplayer, can get pretty boring to be honest. in normal circumstances, i would have let him live a while longer, but the attachment i feel to para is something i consider worth pursuing, and has made come to the realization that im okay with kee passing away after 80+ moons of life <3
༶ longevity ..
⠀༊ i plan to keep parable until her elder ages, or, at the very least, for a year / 52 moons <3 my track record with keeping characters is, in my opinion, pretty good! my current character slots in tfcrp are filled by two cats, buttermilkperch ( ~82 moons ) and splashpaw ( ~15 moons ), the latter of which won’t be dying any time soon, even if i were to win para c: with other roleplays, most of the ones i was in have died out, but ive never kiIIed off a character in them before that ^^
༶ activity ..
⠀༊ im pretty active! on weekdays, my activity is probably a 7/10, and on weekends it’s a 9/10. regardless of the circumstances, i always check scratch at least once a day unless im unable to do so for arbitrary reasons.
༶ how involved i am in the tfcrp community ..
⠀༊ i think i’m decently involved! ive been in tfcrp for a couple years now i believe ( as i stated a few questions up ), and im currently a thunderclan helper! im also in the tfcrp group chat on chaos, and contribute in the scratch one as well. other than that, im not 100% sure how to measure my involvement :’D
༶ how often & severely i harm my characters, mentally and physically ..
⠀༊ i don’t set out to harm my characters severely, nor do i constantly seek out ways to hurt them — however, sometimes pain or a poor well-being is necessary for character development, despite how cruel it might seem. life is full of both light and darkness, and that contrast is something i can’t say i won’t reflect in my characters’ lives. but anyway, this turmoil won’t be a common occurrence, or just for “fun” — if i ever harm my characters, whether in a minor or severe fashion, it’s never without specific, thought-out reasoning, and it’s not something that happens often!

⠀༊ im not too fond of planning out these things, as they majorly depend on the life events that occur in parable’s life — however, i currently envision para to either remain a female / feminine-aligning gender entirety of her life OR become genderfluid / non-binary. she’ll most likely be a pan- or omni-oriented demiromantic.

⠀༊ at first glance, parable is a sight to behold. despite her twisted limb, she holds herself with a grace not many possess. hidden in her yellow-speckled eyes a myriad of complexity that compels you to understand, however hard it may seem to crack through her stoic exterior. will you try to dig deeper, to break past her facade? will you try to learn what makes her, her?

⠀༊ articulate : having or showing the ability to speak fluently and coherently.
⠀⠀.. despite her lack of forthcoming attitude when it comes to socializing, the lepidoptera knows that conversing is an imperative part of clan life, and therefore a skill she’d need to master. communicating her opinions is important to her, as is her input, but nobody listens to those who are inept in such a basic skill. therefore, while at times she might become speechless, she prides herself on her extended vocabulary and the calmness of which she can convey her thoughts. parable uses her eloquence for various purposes, such as to pry knowledge, support her judgments, bait others, and things of the like. persuasion is also a reason why she finds her articulacy to be important — she wields it as a way to explain her viewpoint, as well as a way to convince others of things they might not have ever agreed to otherwise.
⠀༊ conscientious : wishing to do what is right, especially to do one's work or duty well and thoroughly.
⠀⠀.. with a strong sense of duty and responsibility, parable is conscientious to a fault. she’s not one to cut corners or overlook details, taking care to ensure that whatever task she’s given is done to the best of her abilities. because of the high standards she sets for herself, she often takes more time than necessary to perfect everything she does. she’s deeply concerned with doing what’s right, a reflection of her internal moral code, a nature that often manifests in perfectionism. if something goes wrong or doesn’t meet her standards, she can become frustrated or disappointed, sometimes leading her to take on more than she should. parable tends to overanalyze her own mistakes, dwelling on what could have been done better, and this can sometimes lead to feelings of inadequacy, which is why she prefers to do things the best the first time.
⠀༊ independent : not influenced or controlled by others in matters of opinion or conduct.
⠀⠀.. para values her independence greatly. she doesn’t like accepting the assistance of others, as it makes her feel incapable, which results in her introversion. she’ll often spend hours at a time with nobody’s company but her own, building other strengths and skills in turn. because of her solitary nature, she has time to develop her own opinions and mindset, allowing her to grow a steel will and a strong resilience, making her uneasily swayed towards immoral concepts. her independence isn’t borne out of arrogance, but instead from a desire to be capable in all things, to have the ability to handle situations without needing anyone else’s help. however, this trait can make her distant and emotionally unavailable at times, pushing away others when they try to help her out of the fear of being seen as weak. this can also mean that sometimes she can be too isolated, having a hard time balancing the need to be self-reliant and her desire for companionship, however suppressed.
⠀༊ patient : able to accept or tolerate delays, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious.
⠀⠀.. underneath her aloof exterior, parable is quite patient, no matter how little of that patience she exercises. this trait allows her to remain calm in situations where others might get put off or irate, her mental will strong enough to hold on for however long it may take. along with this, she’s also willing to put in the effort and time to achieve what she wants, regardless of others’ protests. because of her twisted forearm, she often has to put in more effort than others might to do the same thing, allowing her to build an immunity to easy frustration. her patience can also extend towards others as well; she can recognize when others might need more time to perform a task or organize their thoughts, in which times she can emphasize with them and will allow them to take their time. however, because of her more perfectionist-aligning mindset, this tolerance may sometimes be a trade off for the expectation of good results. she isn’t endlessly patient, though, and does get tired of it after a while.
⠀༊ empathetic : showing an ability to understand and share the feelings of another.
⠀⠀.. while she’s loathe to show it, parable, deep down, is quietly empathetic. this trait, while not widely advertised, is more commonly manifested in subtle ways, like adjusting her behavior when she notices someone is uncomfortable or silently offering support without drawing attention to it. she doesn’t go out of her way to bring attention to this habit, however, because she’s not naive — a trait of this kind is easily taken advantage of, and putting herself up for failure is exposing a vulnerability for little reward. this secret compassion drives her actions in ways she doesn’t always admit, as she might go out of her way to help someone but pretend it’s for her own benefit. however, this hidden empathy can sometimes cause inner turmoil, as parable struggles between maintaining her stoic exterior and acting on her genuine compassion for others. while she may come off as distant, those who get close to her will realize she’s much more caring than she lets on, despite how much she may refute the claim.
⠀༊ perceptive : having or showing sensitive insight.
⠀⠀.. while others might overlook miniscule details, parable opts to take in more information than necessary im contrast. she has a sharp eye noticing a myriad of things, whether that be from her surroundings to the subtle shifts in other cats’ behaviors. this trained attention gives her the ability to anticipate changes and accurately assess situations, no matter the nature of it — although, that’s not to say she can’t be surprised at turns of events, or the ways others act, as she finds felines to be the most unpredictable things on the world —, which makes her an excellent spectator. building onto this, parable finds solace in silently observing others and their mannerisms, learning a lot from a little, which is a pastime aided by this trait. she also takes note of things that might spur on an obsessive curiosity — something expanded later on in this application — as she tries to peel back the layers of an intriguing mystery, if only to prove that she’s capable of doing so.
⠀༊ stoic : a person who can endure pain or hardship without showing their feelings or complaining.
⠀⠀.. parable maintains a stoic demeanor, rarely showing her emotions openly — believing emotional outbursts to be a sign of weakness, keeping her feelings under control is an elevated priority. she prides herself on being composed, preferring to deal with her emotions privately rather than burdening others with them, which can be both good and bad. building a level of independence within her, as well as the knowledge that griping about life’s difficulties can only get you so far, making the choice to endure it rather than willingly feel it’s pain. however, she can often take on too much emotion at a time. her strategy is to suppress, and rarely acknowledge, which is faulty at best — this can also, at times, result in an outburst of them, leading to unanticipated consequences. however, because she refuses to let panic or fear dictate her actions, she is a reliably level-headed feline, even under stressful situations. the lepidoptera’s insistence on bottling up her emotions can also create distance between herself and others, as her persistence on remaining invulnerable can make her come off as apathetic, when in fact she is quite the opposite.
ㅤ༊ contemplative : expressing or involving prolonged thought.
⠀⠀.. parable is deeply contemplative, constantly analyzing the world around her, and pondering questions most don’t think twice about. in contrast to her peers, she’s not one to act impulsively, instead opting to take the time to fully consider things before choosing a course of action. through this thoughtfulness, interesting insights and intriguing observations will follow her through every walk of life. this nature can lead to her surprising others with astute observations that many wouldn’t have noticed had she not brought it up. it can also help her with critical thinking, allowing her to be innovative and develop a simultaneously practical and creative spark. however, her contemplative tendencies can also lead to overthinking, her analyzations trapping her in her own mind, making her unable to take action or make a decision. her mistakes trail her thoughts, pestering her conscious and reprimanding her for her faults, however small. the longer the lepidoptera dwells on these, the more she can begin to second-guess herself and her merits, leading her to spiral as she tries to conform to her high self-standards. alongside this, her quiet reflections can make her a less verbally engaged conversationalist at times.
⠀༊ moral : concerned with the principles of right and wrong behavior and the goodness or badness of character.
⠀⠀.. bestowed with a strong sense of morality at birth, the lepidoptera guides her actions and decisions under an unwavering belief in right and wrong. although she knows that life isn’t that linear, she treats it as if it is because she believes that if she wills it for long enough, the world will straighten itself out as it was meant to. as a deeply principled feline, parable holds herself to a strict ethical code that she’s loathe to stray from, more often than not refusing to compromise regardless of its convenience. because of her moral compass, she’s always striving to do what she views as right, taking it upon herself to guide those around her as well. due to this, para can come off as imperious or self-righteous, her rigid morality sometimes restricting upon others’ more free mindsets, which might make her less popular with others. because she holds herself to these ideals, any deviation can make her spiral into guilt or frustration. however, her views give her a strong sense of purpose, acting as both a guiding light and a prominent source of inner conflict.
⠀༊ sarcastic : marked by or given to using irony in order to mock or convey contempt.
⠀⠀.. while some might see sarcasm to be the lowest form of wit, parable cares not for others’ opinions in comparison to not feeling vulnerable. wielding her aptitude in the subject, para uses derision as a defense mechanism more than anything else. employing her sharp tongue to mask her true emotions, her remarks are often clever and biting, sometimes slashing deeper than she intended. this can take the form of cutting commentary or dry humor, and something some may appreciate while others may see it as dismissive. she uses her sarcasm to keep others at arm’s length, deflecting when presented with uncomfortable situations or emotions by making light of them. this tendency is akin to a double-edged sword: although it allows her to maintain her stoic exterior, it also prevents her from being emotionally vulnerable with those who are incapable of seeing through it. while she might not mean to hurt others with this, those who take her words at face value will probably be offended by her offhand comments.
⠀༊ dominating : have a commanding influence on; exercise control over.
⠀⠀.. parable is not one the stand back and allow herself to be led — instead, she prefers a more predominate role, opting to dictate her own path, whether the decision be conscious or not. she’s a natural leader, possessing the ability to take control of situations no matter their nature. this, at it’s root, also comes from a place of compassion, however much she may deny it. unfortunately, this dominating nature can also make her come across as overly bossy or arrogant, claims she sometimes won’t go out of her way to disprove as she’s used to playing the villain when necessary. along with this, challenging the authority of others is not something she won’t do if she thinks it’s imperative, the fear of retaliation lesser than her need to speak her mind and keep them on the correct path. because of this, though, tension can occur with those of similar traits, assertiveness clashing with each other; para is not one to back down willingly if she believes what she’s defending to be true, both good and bad in such a situation.
⠀༊ romantic : entranced by the expression of love; desiring intimacy.
⠀⠀.. although para presents herself as stoic and impersonal, she harbors a secret romantic side, despite how hard it might be to hard to believe. she might not let many see this side to her, but, deep down, she finds interest in the beauty of love and connection, something she yearns to have, no matter how much she appears to derive herself from it. this nature is expressed in smaller, subtler ways — coming in the form of gentle appreciation of mundane things, such as a beautiful sunset or a particularly pretty flower, it’s always lingering, even if it’s not quite as noticeable as it would be for most. parable also often spends her free time people-watching, quietly admiring others’ ability to connect despite how scary it is for her to do so herself. this trait is displayed in numerously silent ways, highlighting her deeper, more buried hope that she might one day be loved like the cats she catches glimpses of every day, whether that be platonic or romantic in nature.
⠀༊ blunt : uncompromisingly forthright.
⠀⠀.. while being decently well-versed in the art of proper conversing, that doesn’t mean the world is immune to her thoughts. parable is unapologetically blunt, able to confidently speak her mind with little concern for how what she says may be received. she believes that mincing your words can only serve to harm you, and that you gain nothing from being babied, so she doesn’t conform to generic social norms when speaking to others. to her, if you haven’t learned this lesson yet than you aren’t worth speaking to in the first place. she values honesty and directness above all, and intends to grant the same courtesy to all she meets. although this approach may be refreshing to those unused to anything but sugarcoated-niceties, to most she can come off as unfiltered and cutting. because she adopts this way of conversing, her plainly stated opinions may make her appear to be abrasive and insensitive, regardless of her purer intentions. she’s yet to learn that perhaps being nicer with the truth can still adhere to her strictly set self-standards.
⠀༊ obsessive : thinking about something or someone, or doing something, too much or all the time.
⠀⠀.. obsessive in nature, parable often finds fixation in specific interests and ideas. once something captures her attention, she can become consumed by it, dedicating the entirety of her time and energy to understanding or mastering it. this aggressive tendency can both be a strength and a weakness, although in — more often than not — manifests in the latter. because of this trait, this can lead to the clouding of her judgment, with her becoming so absorbed in h whatever caught her interest that she neglects other aspects of her life in favor of it. this tendency also makes her highly nit-picky, which can make her thorough but also lead to more frustration when it comes to things going to plan. her obsessiveness also extends to her relationships, with an intenser focus on specific individuals, which can feel oppressive to them. she’s easily made jealous, although she might not show it readily, and goes out of her way to understand those of which she is intrigued by, with little regard towards how it might make them feel.
⠀༊ cynical : believing that people are motivated purely by self-interest; distrustful of sincerity or integrity.
⠀⠀.. parable is, at her core, a cynicist; her view of the world is through a skeptical and distrustful lens. she’s quick to question others’ motives, believing that most act out of their own selfishness or concealed agendas. this makes her wary of forming closer relationships, always expecting others to betray or disappoint her, removing the mere potential if she can. this outlook is, most definitely, a result of her core beliefs and the desire to be a logician above all else, no matter how much she might want to think with her emotions rather than her mind. she may care deeply for others, more so than she likes, but that doesn’t excuse them from being subject to her scrutiny, nor does it mean that she is inherently impressionable or easy to convince of questionable matters. however, her cynicism can cause her to find temptation in challenging others’ more positive and optimistic outlooks, viewing it to be naive and unrealistic, only serving to harm the harborer. although para feels concrete in this mindset, there are few who may convince her that perhaps not everyone is truly like this. who knows?
⠀༊ resentful : feeling or expressing bitterness or indignation at having been treated unfairly.
⠀⠀.. more often than not, parable will hold onto grudges for eternity, if not a little longer. she doesn’t mind allowing feelings of resentment to fester within her, holding onto the feeling of being wronged with an iron grip. she struggles with letting go of her anger, repeatedly replaying the slights and forming a strong sense of injustice. her inability to forgive both herself and others causes her to harbor bitterness that could easily be forgotten, if only she chose to do so. this tendency can strain her relationships, however, !!. this resentment most of the time manifests in a passive-aggressive nature and subtle digs, sprouting from her inability to confront her own feelings directly despite her insistence on straightforwardness. you might even do something to cause this anger, but whether or not you know the origin of her ire, para will continue to wield her hurt and hostility for as long as possible. although this might provide her with a temporary sense of control, it’s always fleeting and, ultimately, prevents her from healing and moving forward with her life.
⠀༊ untrusting : not having or given to confidence in something or someone.
⠀⠀.. parable finds trusting others to be a more difficult endeavor than necessary, constantly questioning their motives and intentions despite how nice they may appear. her dubious nature blooms from a deep-rooted fear of betrayal or disappointment, as she sees relying on others to be a one-way ticket to hurt. this distrust extends to every aspect of her life, making her always on guard with others despite her longing to find someone where those precautions aren’t necessary. this mindset often leads to solitary adventures, loneliness a feeling that creeps up on her when she least expects it. although her caution helps her prevent the impending pain she’s sure is waiting at the corner, it also prevents the potential for creating deep connections with others, leaving her with only those who see her as worthy of a continual effort. she struggles with the need to control her surroundings and the desire to form strong relationships, her nature and wants battling for dominance inside her.

⠀⠀.. parable has a tendency to be highly judgmental, often assessing others based on her strict moral code and high standards. however, this judgmental nature makes her even more rigorous in the standards she sets for herself. “destined” to be the best of all, she accepts to faults within herself to remain. already sensitive over her forearm, she refuses to succumb to any other blights. she, more often than not, will reflect these tediously sky-high standards on others, sometimes coming off as too alienating. however, her intention isn’t to harm others with this, but instead to help them. she operates under the (subconscious) assumption that others have the same fears as her, even if they don’t show them — therefore, why wouldn’t they want any imperfections to be pointed out? it would only serve to help them, even if they don’t seem to see it that way. para doesn’t understand that not everyone finds such “suggestions” to be productive, a tie to her blind spot in social niceties.

⠀༊ probably will have a couple short-term relationships in her younger years! not particularly out of the mindset to be hopping from one to the other, but instead in a naive search for love. when she realizes how little luck she seems to be having, despite the time and effort she invests into each, she’ll become much less open to the idea of a relationship, although still greatly desiring one. from then, she’ll probably only have one or two long-term relationships, or just an endgame <3
⠀༊ will strive to obtain some relatively high position of power, or her own idea of it — she’s very clan-oriented, with a high interest in the well-being of those residing in it ( tying to her belief that she is the moon’s vessel, because she feels as if the windclan is her own little providence to preside over ), so she’ll be really involved!
⠀༊ i’ll probably seek out some sort of ( academic perhaps? ) rival for parable because i think she’d greatly benefit from having an ‘antagonist’ in her life! furthering her belief as well as her ambition, they’d help develop para’s personality more naturally than me just ‘inserting’ an arc — along with this, i think it’d make for some fun interactions haha c:

⠀⠀.. parable will probably be rather attached to her mother, canonically looking to her for guidance often. however, as her kithood passes, she’ll begin to detach herself in favor of independence, although her mom will still be her go-to for her problems during her apprenticeship! she’ll try to be her best self with her, the stress of being perfect, if only to show she’s not a mistake, always remaining hidden underneath all their interactions.

⠀⠀.. because of parable’s intense interest in the family religion, it wouldn’t be a far stretch to assume that, naturally, she’d find a pull to interact with her grandmada more often than most would feel. seeing her as the ultimate keeper of knowledge, infinitely wise, she will often seek fablechime in search of stories or answers to her questions, greatly valuing any bond she could create with the grey-blue feline. in her kithood, para will probably be very attached to her alongside her mother, opting to hang out with her rather than with her own peers. as fabs — subtly or not so much — shares her belief in being a vessel for the sun, these hints will be part of the catalyst that lead to her own respective beliefs as well.

⠀⠀.. even as a kit, para will be more solitary than others, preferring the company of her own self to others. however, elys is an exception to this. although she may have a harder time showing it, she highly values her brother, and would do next to anything for him. during her kithood, she’d probably look up to him a lot, seeing as he was the older twin, and less so as time goes on and she builds a higher independence. however, just because she loves him doesn’t mean that she’s immune to her own negative feelings regarding him. although she might not be conscious of this, deep down parable harbors some resentment towards elysian, viewing him as the “perfect child” and herself as the outcast. in her younger moons, she’ll probably try to one-up elys, although she’ll probably most of the time fail miserably. she’ll be more honest and critical with him than she’d be with others because of how high of a regard she holds him in, believing that she is helping him remain “better”, however flawed that thought process may be. in her apprenticehood, she’ll probably be plagued with insecurities, often comparing herself to her daintier counterpart. things like height, fur color, even eyes will be sensitive topics for a small period of time, correlating with a human tween’s thought process, despite how mature she views herself to be. however, fear not! at the end of the day, parable loves her brother, and only wants the best for him.

⠀༊ having been taught from an early age of the sun and moon deities and their stars, parable has been presented with her family’s religion for as long as she can remember. she’s found solace in this adopted belief, and the fact that despite death’s supposedly out of control timing, her moon has a plan for her. however, she believes herself to be unlike any other follower; for she is of the moon, his chosen earth-born vessel. she will have come to this conclusion after having heard the balance of the sun and the moon, their complementary nature and the way that one has never existed without the other. as time goes on, she will have continued to form an affinity for the moon, relating greatly to his struggles with his twin and his desire to care for the living in less obvious ways. believing that fablechime, her grandmother, was also a vessel for the sun, para doesn’t find it out of the realm of possibility for her to be a vessel as well, assuming it must be in her lineage. because of this, she holds herself to a high standard, preferring to work to be in the moon’s image while following in his footsteps in her flesh and blood form. she attaches to this notion because of her thanatophobia, finding relief in the idea — however, that’s not to say she still doesn’t suffer from the affects of her phobia — that even after she passes from this world, she won’t be dead in the next. while she won’t outright frown upon the practice of others’ religions, such as the belief in starclan and the dark forest, she won’t support any ideas that disprove the sun and the moon’s existences.
༶ obsession with lepidoptera ..
⠀༊ for parable, butterflies and moths symbolize transformation, life cycles, and the delicate balance between life and death. to her, they’re living representations of the sun and the moon, her chosen deities. she believes them to be reincarnations of the stars, her gods’ servants. assigning the sun, governor of life and renewal, butterflies and her brother, ruler of night and the shadows that adorn it, moths. she sees the metamorphosis from caterpillar to winged lepidoptera is a representation of the cycle of life, death, and rebirth, and finds hope in the transition. para believes them to be signs or messengers from above, each the respective messenger of their assigned god. delivering “omens” and guiding her along her destined path, she has made it her job to study their patterns and behaviors, convinced that if she fully understood these creatures, she could understand the divine knowledge she’s sure they possess. she has an almost obsessive reverence of these insects, their status as intermediaries from the heavens both intriguing and astounding. after she encounters one she believes to have bestowed her a message from the moon — or the sun, although she has less of an inclination to be happy over the former —, she sees their duty to be over with. more often than not, she falls witness to the death of delicate lepidopterans, and makes it her duty to always collect the wings she discovers to honor them, either storing them somewhere or adorning herself in them to demonstrate her appreciation of the earth-bound stars.

⠀⠀.. analysis : parable’s twisted forearm — or, more commonly known as angular limb deformity — is most often either congenital or developmental. for the lepidoptera, it’s the former — born with this condition at birth, she will have had a lifetime of living with this mutation, therefore making it easier to handle with age. because of the position of her forearm, she won’t be able to place it on the ground, essentially acting as if it doesn’t exist. in her kithood, she’ll find walking around a lot harder than her denmates, and her gait will be much more wonky and unstable. however, because of either pure determination or comfortability after so many moons (para prefers to think it’s the former), by mid-apprenticehood, she’ll be able to walk like most other cats, and perform basic duties like others could. learning to balance her weight on her back paws more than her front, this odd-seeming condition isn’t enough to defer her from her own ambitions. she will feel pain in her joints from time to time, and have days where it’s harder for her to walk, along with the possibility of developing arthritis later on in her life, but overall angular limb deformity is mostly just a cosmetic flaw that she can function and persevere through <3

⠀⠀.. analysis : thanatophobia is the fear of dying, amplified past the generic degree of worry over passing away. for most, dying is a natural, unpredictable event in one’s life that shouldn’t be contemplated for too long. however, for parable, this impending event follows her thoughts every waking moment, nipping at her heels. obsessed with the concept of control, the idea of not being able to dictate such a life-imploding experience terrifies her. because talking about the topic is unpopular, she cannot work out the augmenting fear that’ll develop the longer she thinks about this. it might not outwardly affect her life as more severe diagnoses of this phobia, she’ll still be subject to the more common symptoms ( heart palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath, and in more stressful cases, panic attacks ) which will greatly concern her. she won’t know they’re a result of her fear, instead thinking they’re attributing to an incoming death. after a certain age, parable will stop considering talking to others about this phobia, keeping her worries internal as it builds within her. she’ll later find various outlets for this, such as her obsession with death itself, her religious beliefs taken to a reverent degree, along with her interest in lepidoptera ( all further detailed earlier in the application ).

⠀༊ i first saw parable’s design in the tfcrp group chat on chaos, actually! flea had posted it in one of the ‘tfcrp-art’ channels, and as soon as i saw her i was in love with her design. beyond the fact that im a sucker for calico designs, the ideas i had for a potential personality came flooding in rather quickly, so much so i was stalking the channel for updates or information over who’s character’s litter it was for. thankfully, i didn’t have to wait long, because a few days later this litter came out, and to my elated surprise, i saw parable and immediately remixed the project to write down my concept ideas. i haven’t been this inspired to apply for a kit in a long while, and i think id always regret not at least trying to apply for her, so here i am! applying for the pretty baby <33
༶ why i should win ..
⠀༊ im not too fond of this question, because i think everyone has certain reasons why they’d be a good fit for a character, and it’s kind of hard to answer this without sounded snobby or something, but ill attempt this for para lmao — i think i should win her because i've been a part of tfcrp for quite a while now ( 2-3+ years! im old lol ) and a part of the warrior cats fandom even longer, and i think i can say i know them both pretty well. while i'm not quite as popular as other roleplayers, and my characters less prominent in the grand scheme of clan plots, i don't think that really discounts from too much. i try my best to be apart of any tfcrp events, and enjoy roleplaying with others no matter their experience, which would give the considerably antisocial parablekit a rather wide range of acquaintances, at the very least. my personality idea for her is something i think i could execute well, and would prove to have a multitude of opportunities and interesting roleplays. overall, i think i should win para because i think i could roleplay her well, and give her a fulfilling life!

⠀⠀.. honeysplatter was my first character in tfcrp, a sign-up cat and warrior of thunderclan; i didnt roleplay much with her, because i was more active in the art community and had barely grasped the rules of roleplaying, so, along with that, i also created raven, a kittypet, a week or so after, not knowing that you couldn't have only one character. after i got that sorted out, i continued to roleplay a bit with honeysplatter before ultimately removing her and taking a break from roleplaying in tfcrp.

⠀⠀.. in around late 2022, i rejoined tfcrp with carnationfaith of windclan, another sign-up character, during which i had gotten a better handle of the rules of tfcrp, how things worked, and the community. carnationfaith was mostly just a placeholder character, as during that time there were multiple open litters of which i was applying for; after winning buttermilkkit, she met her demise soon before he was born.

⠀⠀.. buttermilkkit ( now buttermilkperch! ) is the first character in tfcrp i've ever really felt a ‘connection’ to. although his current personality has strayed from faer original concept, i believe xyr one of my favorite characters in tfcrp out of all my others, and, to be honest, i'd be sad to see him go; fae has went from a flamboyant, poetic soul to an adventurous, confident apprentice, and now a mostly tired of life but still trying to contribute warrior ( elder soon.. ) xe is today, and ive loved roleplaying with him for the ~80 moons faer has been present for, and if i do not win parablekit, i imagine he’ll continue to npc his life in thunderclan for a while yet.

༶ why i’m willing to leave my current character ..
⠀༊ after over a year and a half of roleplaying him, buttermilkperch has been a wonderful ‘introduction’ to tfcrp for me — however, ive come to a point where i don’t see any other avenues to take his life. ive been a little harsh to him in his early stages ( coughs in having him witness like three deaths.. sorry kee :’] ) and now i feel like he’s reached a time in his life where he can find peace in simply existing, which, as a roleplayer, can get pretty boring to be honest. in normal circumstances, i would have let him live a while longer, but the attachment i feel to para is something i consider worth pursuing, and has made come to the realization that im okay with kee passing away after 80+ moons of life <3

⠀༊ i plan to keep parable until her elder ages, or, at the very least, for a year / 52 moons <3 my track record with keeping characters is, in my opinion, pretty good! my current character slots in tfcrp are filled by two cats, buttermilkperch ( ~82 moons ) and splashpaw ( ~15 moons ), the latter of which won’t be dying any time soon, even if i were to win para c: with other roleplays, most of the ones i was in have died out, but ive never kiIIed off a character in them before that ^^

⠀༊ im pretty active! on weekdays, my activity is probably a 7/10, and on weekends it’s a 9/10. regardless of the circumstances, i always check scratch at least once a day unless im unable to do so for arbitrary reasons.

༶ how often & severely i harm my characters, mentally and physically ..
⠀༊ i don’t set out to harm my characters severely, nor do i constantly seek out ways to hurt them — however, sometimes pain or a poor well-being is necessary for character development, despite how cruel it might seem. life is full of both light and darkness, and that contrast is something i can’t say i won’t reflect in my characters’ lives. but anyway, this turmoil won’t be a common occurrence, or just for “fun” — if i ever harm my characters, whether in a minor or severe fashion, it’s never without specific, thought-out reasoning, and it’s not something that happens often!

⠀༊ at first glance, parable is a sight to behold. despite her twisted limb, she holds herself with a grace not many possess. hidden in her yellow-speckled eyes a myriad of complexity that compels you to understand, however hard it may seem to crack through her stoic exterior. will you try to dig deeper, to break past her facade? will you try to learn what makes her, her?

⠀⠀.. despite her lack of forthcoming attitude when it comes to socializing, the lepidoptera knows that conversing is an imperative part of clan life, and therefore a skill she’d need to master. communicating her opinions is important to her, as is her input, but nobody listens to those who are inept in such a basic skill. therefore, while at times she might become speechless, she prides herself on her extended vocabulary and the calmness of which she can convey her thoughts. parable uses her eloquence for various purposes, such as to pry knowledge, support her judgments, bait others, and things of the like. persuasion is also a reason why she finds her articulacy to be important — she wields it as a way to explain her viewpoint, as well as a way to convince others of things they might not have ever agreed to otherwise.

⠀⠀.. with a strong sense of duty and responsibility, parable is conscientious to a fault. she’s not one to cut corners or overlook details, taking care to ensure that whatever task she’s given is done to the best of her abilities. because of the high standards she sets for herself, she often takes more time than necessary to perfect everything she does. she’s deeply concerned with doing what’s right, a reflection of her internal moral code, a nature that often manifests in perfectionism. if something goes wrong or doesn’t meet her standards, she can become frustrated or disappointed, sometimes leading her to take on more than she should. parable tends to overanalyze her own mistakes, dwelling on what could have been done better, and this can sometimes lead to feelings of inadequacy, which is why she prefers to do things the best the first time.

⠀⠀.. para values her independence greatly. she doesn’t like accepting the assistance of others, as it makes her feel incapable, which results in her introversion. she’ll often spend hours at a time with nobody’s company but her own, building other strengths and skills in turn. because of her solitary nature, she has time to develop her own opinions and mindset, allowing her to grow a steel will and a strong resilience, making her uneasily swayed towards immoral concepts. her independence isn’t borne out of arrogance, but instead from a desire to be capable in all things, to have the ability to handle situations without needing anyone else’s help. however, this trait can make her distant and emotionally unavailable at times, pushing away others when they try to help her out of the fear of being seen as weak. this can also mean that sometimes she can be too isolated, having a hard time balancing the need to be self-reliant and her desire for companionship, however suppressed.

⠀⠀.. underneath her aloof exterior, parable is quite patient, no matter how little of that patience she exercises. this trait allows her to remain calm in situations where others might get put off or irate, her mental will strong enough to hold on for however long it may take. along with this, she’s also willing to put in the effort and time to achieve what she wants, regardless of others’ protests. because of her twisted forearm, she often has to put in more effort than others might to do the same thing, allowing her to build an immunity to easy frustration. her patience can also extend towards others as well; she can recognize when others might need more time to perform a task or organize their thoughts, in which times she can emphasize with them and will allow them to take their time. however, because of her more perfectionist-aligning mindset, this tolerance may sometimes be a trade off for the expectation of good results. she isn’t endlessly patient, though, and does get tired of it after a while.
⠀༊ empathetic : showing an ability to understand and share the feelings of another.
⠀⠀.. while she’s loathe to show it, parable, deep down, is quietly empathetic. this trait, while not widely advertised, is more commonly manifested in subtle ways, like adjusting her behavior when she notices someone is uncomfortable or silently offering support without drawing attention to it. she doesn’t go out of her way to bring attention to this habit, however, because she’s not naive — a trait of this kind is easily taken advantage of, and putting herself up for failure is exposing a vulnerability for little reward. this secret compassion drives her actions in ways she doesn’t always admit, as she might go out of her way to help someone but pretend it’s for her own benefit. however, this hidden empathy can sometimes cause inner turmoil, as parable struggles between maintaining her stoic exterior and acting on her genuine compassion for others. while she may come off as distant, those who get close to her will realize she’s much more caring than she lets on, despite how much she may refute the claim.

⠀⠀.. while others might overlook miniscule details, parable opts to take in more information than necessary im contrast. she has a sharp eye noticing a myriad of things, whether that be from her surroundings to the subtle shifts in other cats’ behaviors. this trained attention gives her the ability to anticipate changes and accurately assess situations, no matter the nature of it — although, that’s not to say she can’t be surprised at turns of events, or the ways others act, as she finds felines to be the most unpredictable things on the world —, which makes her an excellent spectator. building onto this, parable finds solace in silently observing others and their mannerisms, learning a lot from a little, which is a pastime aided by this trait. she also takes note of things that might spur on an obsessive curiosity — something expanded later on in this application — as she tries to peel back the layers of an intriguing mystery, if only to prove that she’s capable of doing so.

⠀⠀.. parable maintains a stoic demeanor, rarely showing her emotions openly — believing emotional outbursts to be a sign of weakness, keeping her feelings under control is an elevated priority. she prides herself on being composed, preferring to deal with her emotions privately rather than burdening others with them, which can be both good and bad. building a level of independence within her, as well as the knowledge that griping about life’s difficulties can only get you so far, making the choice to endure it rather than willingly feel it’s pain. however, she can often take on too much emotion at a time. her strategy is to suppress, and rarely acknowledge, which is faulty at best — this can also, at times, result in an outburst of them, leading to unanticipated consequences. however, because she refuses to let panic or fear dictate her actions, she is a reliably level-headed feline, even under stressful situations. the lepidoptera’s insistence on bottling up her emotions can also create distance between herself and others, as her persistence on remaining invulnerable can make her come off as apathetic, when in fact she is quite the opposite.

⠀⠀.. parable is deeply contemplative, constantly analyzing the world around her, and pondering questions most don’t think twice about. in contrast to her peers, she’s not one to act impulsively, instead opting to take the time to fully consider things before choosing a course of action. through this thoughtfulness, interesting insights and intriguing observations will follow her through every walk of life. this nature can lead to her surprising others with astute observations that many wouldn’t have noticed had she not brought it up. it can also help her with critical thinking, allowing her to be innovative and develop a simultaneously practical and creative spark. however, her contemplative tendencies can also lead to overthinking, her analyzations trapping her in her own mind, making her unable to take action or make a decision. her mistakes trail her thoughts, pestering her conscious and reprimanding her for her faults, however small. the longer the lepidoptera dwells on these, the more she can begin to second-guess herself and her merits, leading her to spiral as she tries to conform to her high self-standards. alongside this, her quiet reflections can make her a less verbally engaged conversationalist at times.

⠀⠀.. bestowed with a strong sense of morality at birth, the lepidoptera guides her actions and decisions under an unwavering belief in right and wrong. although she knows that life isn’t that linear, she treats it as if it is because she believes that if she wills it for long enough, the world will straighten itself out as it was meant to. as a deeply principled feline, parable holds herself to a strict ethical code that she’s loathe to stray from, more often than not refusing to compromise regardless of its convenience. because of her moral compass, she’s always striving to do what she views as right, taking it upon herself to guide those around her as well. due to this, para can come off as imperious or self-righteous, her rigid morality sometimes restricting upon others’ more free mindsets, which might make her less popular with others. because she holds herself to these ideals, any deviation can make her spiral into guilt or frustration. however, her views give her a strong sense of purpose, acting as both a guiding light and a prominent source of inner conflict.
⠀༊ sarcastic : marked by or given to using irony in order to mock or convey contempt.
⠀⠀.. while some might see sarcasm to be the lowest form of wit, parable cares not for others’ opinions in comparison to not feeling vulnerable. wielding her aptitude in the subject, para uses derision as a defense mechanism more than anything else. employing her sharp tongue to mask her true emotions, her remarks are often clever and biting, sometimes slashing deeper than she intended. this can take the form of cutting commentary or dry humor, and something some may appreciate while others may see it as dismissive. she uses her sarcasm to keep others at arm’s length, deflecting when presented with uncomfortable situations or emotions by making light of them. this tendency is akin to a double-edged sword: although it allows her to maintain her stoic exterior, it also prevents her from being emotionally vulnerable with those who are incapable of seeing through it. while she might not mean to hurt others with this, those who take her words at face value will probably be offended by her offhand comments.

⠀⠀.. parable is not one the stand back and allow herself to be led — instead, she prefers a more predominate role, opting to dictate her own path, whether the decision be conscious or not. she’s a natural leader, possessing the ability to take control of situations no matter their nature. this, at it’s root, also comes from a place of compassion, however much she may deny it. unfortunately, this dominating nature can also make her come across as overly bossy or arrogant, claims she sometimes won’t go out of her way to disprove as she’s used to playing the villain when necessary. along with this, challenging the authority of others is not something she won’t do if she thinks it’s imperative, the fear of retaliation lesser than her need to speak her mind and keep them on the correct path. because of this, though, tension can occur with those of similar traits, assertiveness clashing with each other; para is not one to back down willingly if she believes what she’s defending to be true, both good and bad in such a situation.
⠀༊ romantic : entranced by the expression of love; desiring intimacy.
⠀⠀.. although para presents herself as stoic and impersonal, she harbors a secret romantic side, despite how hard it might be to hard to believe. she might not let many see this side to her, but, deep down, she finds interest in the beauty of love and connection, something she yearns to have, no matter how much she appears to derive herself from it. this nature is expressed in smaller, subtler ways — coming in the form of gentle appreciation of mundane things, such as a beautiful sunset or a particularly pretty flower, it’s always lingering, even if it’s not quite as noticeable as it would be for most. parable also often spends her free time people-watching, quietly admiring others’ ability to connect despite how scary it is for her to do so herself. this trait is displayed in numerously silent ways, highlighting her deeper, more buried hope that she might one day be loved like the cats she catches glimpses of every day, whether that be platonic or romantic in nature.

⠀⠀.. while being decently well-versed in the art of proper conversing, that doesn’t mean the world is immune to her thoughts. parable is unapologetically blunt, able to confidently speak her mind with little concern for how what she says may be received. she believes that mincing your words can only serve to harm you, and that you gain nothing from being babied, so she doesn’t conform to generic social norms when speaking to others. to her, if you haven’t learned this lesson yet than you aren’t worth speaking to in the first place. she values honesty and directness above all, and intends to grant the same courtesy to all she meets. although this approach may be refreshing to those unused to anything but sugarcoated-niceties, to most she can come off as unfiltered and cutting. because she adopts this way of conversing, her plainly stated opinions may make her appear to be abrasive and insensitive, regardless of her purer intentions. she’s yet to learn that perhaps being nicer with the truth can still adhere to her strictly set self-standards.
⠀༊ obsessive : thinking about something or someone, or doing something, too much or all the time.
⠀⠀.. obsessive in nature, parable often finds fixation in specific interests and ideas. once something captures her attention, she can become consumed by it, dedicating the entirety of her time and energy to understanding or mastering it. this aggressive tendency can both be a strength and a weakness, although in — more often than not — manifests in the latter. because of this trait, this can lead to the clouding of her judgment, with her becoming so absorbed in h whatever caught her interest that she neglects other aspects of her life in favor of it. this tendency also makes her highly nit-picky, which can make her thorough but also lead to more frustration when it comes to things going to plan. her obsessiveness also extends to her relationships, with an intenser focus on specific individuals, which can feel oppressive to them. she’s easily made jealous, although she might not show it readily, and goes out of her way to understand those of which she is intrigued by, with little regard towards how it might make them feel.

⠀⠀.. parable is, at her core, a cynicist; her view of the world is through a skeptical and distrustful lens. she’s quick to question others’ motives, believing that most act out of their own selfishness or concealed agendas. this makes her wary of forming closer relationships, always expecting others to betray or disappoint her, removing the mere potential if she can. this outlook is, most definitely, a result of her core beliefs and the desire to be a logician above all else, no matter how much she might want to think with her emotions rather than her mind. she may care deeply for others, more so than she likes, but that doesn’t excuse them from being subject to her scrutiny, nor does it mean that she is inherently impressionable or easy to convince of questionable matters. however, her cynicism can cause her to find temptation in challenging others’ more positive and optimistic outlooks, viewing it to be naive and unrealistic, only serving to harm the harborer. although para feels concrete in this mindset, there are few who may convince her that perhaps not everyone is truly like this. who knows?

⠀⠀.. more often than not, parable will hold onto grudges for eternity, if not a little longer. she doesn’t mind allowing feelings of resentment to fester within her, holding onto the feeling of being wronged with an iron grip. she struggles with letting go of her anger, repeatedly replaying the slights and forming a strong sense of injustice. her inability to forgive both herself and others causes her to harbor bitterness that could easily be forgotten, if only she chose to do so. this tendency can strain her relationships, however, !!. this resentment most of the time manifests in a passive-aggressive nature and subtle digs, sprouting from her inability to confront her own feelings directly despite her insistence on straightforwardness. you might even do something to cause this anger, but whether or not you know the origin of her ire, para will continue to wield her hurt and hostility for as long as possible. although this might provide her with a temporary sense of control, it’s always fleeting and, ultimately, prevents her from healing and moving forward with her life.
⠀༊ untrusting : not having or given to confidence in something or someone.
⠀⠀.. parable finds trusting others to be a more difficult endeavor than necessary, constantly questioning their motives and intentions despite how nice they may appear. her dubious nature blooms from a deep-rooted fear of betrayal or disappointment, as she sees relying on others to be a one-way ticket to hurt. this distrust extends to every aspect of her life, making her always on guard with others despite her longing to find someone where those precautions aren’t necessary. this mindset often leads to solitary adventures, loneliness a feeling that creeps up on her when she least expects it. although her caution helps her prevent the impending pain she’s sure is waiting at the corner, it also prevents the potential for creating deep connections with others, leaving her with only those who see her as worthy of a continual effort. she struggles with the need to control her surroundings and the desire to form strong relationships, her nature and wants battling for dominance inside her.
⠀༊ self-critical : critical of oneself, one's abilities, or one's actions in a self-aware or unduly disapproving manner.
⠀⠀.. parable has a tendency to be highly judgmental, often assessing others based on her strict moral code and high standards. however, this judgmental nature makes her even more rigorous in the standards she sets for herself. “destined” to be the best of all, she accepts to faults within herself to remain. already sensitive over her forearm, she refuses to succumb to any other blights. she, more often than not, will reflect these tediously sky-high standards on others, sometimes coming off as too alienating. however, her intention isn’t to harm others with this, but instead to help them. she operates under the (subconscious) assumption that others have the same fears as her, even if they don’t show them — therefore, why wouldn’t they want any imperfections to be pointed out? it would only serve to help them, even if they don’t seem to see it that way. para doesn’t understand that not everyone finds such “suggestions” to be productive, a tie to her blind spot in social niceties.

⠀༊ probably will have a couple short-term relationships in her younger years! not particularly out of the mindset to be hopping from one to the other, but instead in a naive search for love. when she realizes how little luck she seems to be having, despite the time and effort she invests into each, she’ll become much less open to the idea of a relationship, although still greatly desiring one. from then, she’ll probably only have one or two long-term relationships, or just an endgame <3
⠀༊ will strive to obtain some relatively high position of power, or her own idea of it — she’s very clan-oriented, with a high interest in the well-being of those residing in it ( tying to her belief that she is the moon’s vessel, because she feels as if the windclan is her own little providence to preside over ), so she’ll be really involved!
⠀༊ i’ll probably seek out some sort of ( academic perhaps? ) rival for parable because i think she’d greatly benefit from having an ‘antagonist’ in her life! furthering her belief as well as her ambition, they’d help develop para’s personality more naturally than me just ‘inserting’ an arc — along with this, i think it’d make for some fun interactions haha c:

⠀⠀.. parable will probably be rather attached to her mother, canonically looking to her for guidance often. however, as her kithood passes, she’ll begin to detach herself in favor of independence, although her mom will still be her go-to for her problems during her apprenticeship! she’ll try to be her best self with her, the stress of being perfect, if only to show she’s not a mistake, always remaining hidden underneath all their interactions.
⠀༊ fablechime :
⠀⠀.. because of parable’s intense interest in the family religion, it wouldn’t be a far stretch to assume that, naturally, she’d find a pull to interact with her grandmada more often than most would feel. seeing her as the ultimate keeper of knowledge, infinitely wise, she will often seek fablechime in search of stories or answers to her questions, greatly valuing any bond she could create with the grey-blue feline. in her kithood, para will probably be very attached to her alongside her mother, opting to hang out with her rather than with her own peers. as fabs — subtly or not so much — shares her belief in being a vessel for the sun, these hints will be part of the catalyst that lead to her own respective beliefs as well.
⠀༊ elysiankit :
⠀⠀.. even as a kit, para will be more solitary than others, preferring the company of her own self to others. however, elys is an exception to this. although she may have a harder time showing it, she highly values her brother, and would do next to anything for him. during her kithood, she’d probably look up to him a lot, seeing as he was the older twin, and less so as time goes on and she builds a higher independence. however, just because she loves him doesn’t mean that she’s immune to her own negative feelings regarding him. although she might not be conscious of this, deep down parable harbors some resentment towards elysian, viewing him as the “perfect child” and herself as the outcast. in her younger moons, she’ll probably try to one-up elys, although she’ll probably most of the time fail miserably. she’ll be more honest and critical with him than she’d be with others because of how high of a regard she holds him in, believing that she is helping him remain “better”, however flawed that thought process may be. in her apprenticehood, she’ll probably be plagued with insecurities, often comparing herself to her daintier counterpart. things like height, fur color, even eyes will be sensitive topics for a small period of time, correlating with a human tween’s thought process, despite how mature she views herself to be. however, fear not! at the end of the day, parable loves her brother, and only wants the best for him.
༶ religious beliefs ..
⠀༊ having been taught from an early age of the sun and moon deities and their stars, parable has been presented with her family’s religion for as long as she can remember. she’s found solace in this adopted belief, and the fact that despite death’s supposedly out of control timing, her moon has a plan for her. however, she believes herself to be unlike any other follower; for she is of the moon, his chosen earth-born vessel. she will have come to this conclusion after having heard the balance of the sun and the moon, their complementary nature and the way that one has never existed without the other. as time goes on, she will have continued to form an affinity for the moon, relating greatly to his struggles with his twin and his desire to care for the living in less obvious ways. believing that fablechime, her grandmother, was also a vessel for the sun, para doesn’t find it out of the realm of possibility for her to be a vessel as well, assuming it must be in her lineage. because of this, she holds herself to a high standard, preferring to work to be in the moon’s image while following in his footsteps in her flesh and blood form. she attaches to this notion because of her thanatophobia, finding relief in the idea — however, that’s not to say she still doesn’t suffer from the affects of her phobia — that even after she passes from this world, she won’t be dead in the next. while she won’t outright frown upon the practice of others’ religions, such as the belief in starclan and the dark forest, she won’t support any ideas that disprove the sun and the moon’s existences.
༶ obsession with lepidoptera ..
⠀༊ for parable, butterflies and moths symbolize transformation, life cycles, and the delicate balance between life and death. to her, they’re living representations of the sun and the moon, her chosen deities. she believes them to be reincarnations of the stars, her gods’ servants. assigning the sun, governor of life and renewal, butterflies and her brother, ruler of night and the shadows that adorn it, moths. she sees the metamorphosis from caterpillar to winged lepidoptera is a representation of the cycle of life, death, and rebirth, and finds hope in the transition. para believes them to be signs or messengers from above, each the respective messenger of their assigned god. delivering “omens” and guiding her along her destined path, she has made it her job to study their patterns and behaviors, convinced that if she fully understood these creatures, she could understand the divine knowledge she’s sure they possess. she has an almost obsessive reverence of these insects, their status as intermediaries from the heavens both intriguing and astounding. after she encounters one she believes to have bestowed her a message from the moon — or the sun, although she has less of an inclination to be happy over the former —, she sees their duty to be over with. more often than not, she falls witness to the death of delicate lepidopterans, and makes it her duty to always collect the wings she discovers to honor them, either storing them somewhere or adorning herself in them to demonstrate her appreciation of the earth-bound stars.

⠀⠀.. analysis : parable’s twisted forearm — or, more commonly known as angular limb deformity — is most often either congenital or developmental. for the lepidoptera, it’s the former — born with this condition at birth, she will have had a lifetime of living with this mutation, therefore making it easier to handle with age. because of the position of her forearm, she won’t be able to place it on the ground, essentially acting as if it doesn’t exist. in her kithood, she’ll find walking around a lot harder than her denmates, and her gait will be much more wonky and unstable. however, because of either pure determination or comfortability after so many moons (para prefers to think it’s the former), by mid-apprenticehood, she’ll be able to walk like most other cats, and perform basic duties like others could. learning to balance her weight on her back paws more than her front, this odd-seeming condition isn’t enough to defer her from her own ambitions. she will feel pain in her joints from time to time, and have days where it’s harder for her to walk, along with the possibility of developing arthritis later on in her life, but overall angular limb deformity is mostly just a cosmetic flaw that she can function and persevere through <3

⠀⠀.. analysis : thanatophobia is the fear of dying, amplified past the generic degree of worry over passing away. for most, dying is a natural, unpredictable event in one’s life that shouldn’t be contemplated for too long. however, for parable, this impending event follows her thoughts every waking moment, nipping at her heels. obsessed with the concept of control, the idea of not being able to dictate such a life-imploding experience terrifies her. because talking about the topic is unpopular, she cannot work out the augmenting fear that’ll develop the longer she thinks about this. it might not outwardly affect her life as more severe diagnoses of this phobia, she’ll still be subject to the more common symptoms ( heart palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath, and in more stressful cases, panic attacks ) which will greatly concern her. she won’t know they’re a result of her fear, instead thinking they’re attributing to an incoming death. after a certain age, parable will stop considering talking to others about this phobia, keeping her worries internal as it builds within her. she’ll later find various outlets for this, such as her obsession with death itself, her religious beliefs taken to a reverent degree, along with her interest in lepidoptera ( all further detailed earlier in the application ).
