What's it like to delete my account?

it signs you out?

A popup says that your account will be retained if you log in in the next two days. Then it signs you out.

If you log in within the next two days, your account will not be deleted. If not, your account will be deleted. Once an account is deleted, you can't view it from the profile page (it leads to a 404 error), but you can still view the account's followers, favorite projects, etc.

i've done this with an account in the past. it goes like this:

1. are you sure?
   
2. enter password
   
3. *signs you out*
   
4. if you don't sign into this account within X amount of days, we'll delete your account
   
5. email saying “hey, your account is scheduled for deletion”
   
6. if you sign back in within that time it says “hey, your account was gonna be deleted but now it won't because you signed in. if this wasn't you, change your password!!”

IIRC when I deleted my old account (like a LONG time ago), it gave you the option to either “keep your projects” or “delete all of them”. After the account is actually deleted, once you attempt to log in, it'll say “This account is deleted!”, and most stuff (not everything) related to your profile gets deleted. Some of your profile pages (like projects you loved, activity, etc) are not deleted.

As someone who has deleted an account before, I can at least tell you what the process is partially like.

You get sent to a screen that basically asks for confirmation. It is in this screen you can pick if your projects are also deleted or just your account. Keep in mind that deleted accounts with kept projects are in kind of a “limbo” state where the comment box DOES appear but no comments can be made after the account is deleted.

If you say no, your account is kept. If you say yes, however, you get a notification saying you have 2 days to log in to keep your account.
